Gimbisi garrukas 🔵⚪️🟤

For those that don’t know us or background about our team this is a brief description of what we stand for and how this all came about .

Gimbisi is the valley that covers our beautiful Dhungutti nation

So East Coast Tribal League Association has been ran for the second time in two years me (jimahl Toby n co-founder Isreal James Coggan ) decided to nominate a team for the up and coming tournament which started on the 21st of January.

Not knowing how we will go in the tournament but just getting it in there to have a crack and have fun and play the game that we love rugby league .

It started off with close mates and brothers -uncles
As it went on we gathered a team weeks before the competition commenced.

Our team is based off local Kempsey brothers that we’re born and raised or family from Kempsey area
We have 6 sets of actual brothers in the team aswell as cousins and uncles and that’s what it’s all about family and fun when it comes to this club .

It was a very tough competition going in as our first game was a lost to Coffs , our second saw us run away with it against macleay who were very strong young determined team with a few teams that was getting there team together that come up short few forfeits and we came up winners against the dolphins who were very strong who we now play in the grand final .

On behalf of the garrukas we like to thank Unc Dave Fernando and Unc Paul Davis and Unc Nigel tighe for the tournament they are running it’s been a pleasure to be apart of and all the best for the future .

And also we thank every team that was included in the tournament those that didn’t make it thru unlucky all the best next time if you follow through .

Again thanks to everyone that committed to the team players there wives and partners and family and friends for following us on this journey.

If yas ain’t doing nothing on Saturday get down to the footy ovals in Kempsey (verge st) and support ya local team and local boys we all bleed Kempsey so it’s be great to see you all there .

We are very thankful for the position we are in considering this is our first year in.

🔵⚪️🟤GRANDFINAL TIME🟤⚪️🔵

For those who don't know Gimbisi Valley Garrukas RLFC made the East Coast Tribal League Association grandfinal against Dunghutti Dolphins Swr in the final. The game will be Saturday the 1st of April at Verge Street Kempsey (time to be announced).

So next Saturday let's get there in Blue, White and Brown and cheers the boys on from kick off until the end.

We would like to thank our players, coaching staff and our trainers. You have all put in time and effort throughout the whole tournament. The boys who take the field every game, you have all put your blood sweat and tears into each game you have played and it's really showed. We love you brothers.

Partners, families and community, we also have much appreciation for your on going support since we started training together back at the end of last year. Constantly turning up to games and supporting the boys. Trust us when we say we hear you every week out on the field. With every tackle and every hit up we hear it all. We love the support. This is for you aswell.

For some teams/players this tournament was just a bit of fun leading up to the start of everyone's club season. This for us was a chance to play footy with people we haven't played with, or family members we haven't played with. During this tournament we have had 5 sets of brothers play football together. Aswell of uncles and nephews and cousins all playing together. Which is what we based this team around. I'm beyond proud of all the efforts from everyone who has played in a Garrukas jersey this year.

We would also like to thank our sponsors for this year aswell kempsey Haulage Contractors and Southside Cellars Local Liquor. Without you this wouldn't of been able to happen.

Lastly to both of our partners, Jazmin and Sharn. Thank you for supporting our decision to do this. Although we probably annoyed you both heaps by always talking on the phone. But we thank you both from the bottom of our hearts. We really appreciate the support you have both given to us. Thank you.

🔵⚪️🟤 Game Cancelled🟤⚪️🔵

Unfortunately coffs coast forfeited against us today. We now get through to the Grandfinal next Saturday April 1st.

Will keep everyone updated through out the week with times and that.

With Bellbrook forfeiting last weekend. We are finally back on the playing park with our major semi final against Coffs Coast Raiders. This game should be an absolute cracker of a game. Especially with coffs being the only team to beat the Garrukas back in round 1.

We would love for everyone to get there and support the team in their first finals appearance. With the winner going into the grandfinal the following week.
