👋 MEET THE TEAM – ZOË EXTON

Some people sit still.

Zoë isn’t one of them.

When she’s not guiding guests through Tasmania’s incredible trail network, you’ll likely find her chasing waves at sunrise, hiking a remote track, swimming in icy water, competing in pickleball tournaments around Tasmania and interstate, or planning her next adventure.

A lifelong learner, educator, linguist and explorer, Zoë has worked both internationally and across Australia, bringing a genuine curiosity about people and places wherever she goes. One of her favourite parts of guiding is hearing the stories that guests bring with them and helping create unforgettable memories during their time in Tasmania.

Zoë has a deep connection with the natural world and an uncanny ability to spot wildlife. Around TASMBA, she’s earned a reputation as our resident “animal whisperer” and is responsible for more platypus sightings than anyone else on the team.

In fact, she may be the only person in the world who can claim that a juvenile platypus once jumped into her lap.

She feels incredibly fortunate to have shared waves with dolphins, explored Tasmania’s wild corners, and now gets to share those experiences with visitors from around the globe.

Whether she’s driving the shuttle, guiding a tour, spotting wildlife, or somehow fitting a surf and a pickleball match into the same day, Zoë brings enthusiasm, warmth and a sense of adventure to everything she does.

đź’š Fun Facts:
🏄 Known to beat the crowds with a dawn surf before guiding a tour.
🦆 Holds the unofficial TASMBA record for platypus sightings.
🏓 Regularly competes in pickleball tournaments across Tasmania and interstate.
🌏 Has worked and travelled around the world but proudly calls Tasmania home.

👋 MEET THE TEAM – RICHARD SAMPSON

If you’ve spent any time around Tasmania’s mountain bike trails, there’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with Rich.

A passionate rider, storyteller and all-round good bloke, Rich is one of those people who seems to know everyone and has a story for just about everything. Whether he’s guiding guests down kunanyi’s rainforest trails, chatting at a trailhead, or sharing local knowledge along the way, he brings a huge amount of experience and personality to every ride.

Before joining TASMBA, Rich spent more than 25 years working across community sport, event management and marketing, helping create experiences that bring people together. But perhaps his most interesting chapter came even earlier…

In a previous life, Rich worked in a circus and toured Australia, Europe and the USA as a professional disc golfer. While the circus days may be behind him, his love of adventure, people and the outdoors certainly isn’t.

When he’s not on two wheels, you’ll often find him throwing a disc around Hobart’s Poimena Disc Golf Course, keeping up with Liverpool, cheering on the Essendon Bombers, or exploring yet another Tasmanian trail.

Rich is always up for a chat and loves sharing his passion for Tasmania with visitors from all over the world. Ask him about local trails, sport, Tasmania’s hidden gems, or his circus days - you’ll probably end up hearing a story you’ll be telling your friends later.

đź’š Fun Facts:
🎪 Former circus performer.
🥏 Toured Australia, Europe and the USA playing disc golf.
đźšµ Regularly found lurking around trailheads and shady rest stops.
âš˝ Lifelong Liverpool supporter.
đź”´ Passionate Essendon Bombers fan.
🗺️ A wealth of local knowledge and trail stories.

One thing’s for sure - there’s never a dull moment when Rich is around.

If you’ve ridden with Rich before, tell us your favourite Rich story below! 👇

EMBRACE THE COLD ❄️ AND CELEBRATE DARK M**O 🟥

đź”´ RUG UP. RIDE RED. đź”´

Dark M**o is returning to Hobart from 11–22 June, and we’re joining the celebration in true Tasmanian style.

Throughout June, we’re encouraging all riders on our guided kunanyi / Mt Wellington day tours to rug up, wear red, and help paint the mountain red.

Whether it’s a red jacket, beanie, gloves, socks, or just a splash of crimson, we’d love to see you embrace the spirit of Dark M**o while taking in the incredible winter views from Tasmania’s most iconic mountain.

Winter riding on kunanyi is something special - crisp air, quieter trails, dramatic skies, and a whole new perspective of Hobart below. Add a little red and you’ll be part of a celebration that makes this time of year uniquely Tasmanian.
