The records tumbled in the opening 100m with Russell Middleton breaking Rudi Hockreiter’s long standing M70 record and Kath Oliver breaking the F70. Michael Minney held off Jessica Case in a tight 3200m and then backed up for a narrow win in the 1000m.

It was our first spring run and didn’t the runners have spring in their step. Two new records were set in the 200m; Russell Middleton who was also inches away from the win and to new runner Hayley Keogh who claimed the F40 record. Our other new runners Eric Corbell and Isla Keogh also impressed with great 200m times. The pace didn’t let up in the longer races with Jessica Case a clear winner of the 3000m and Sharon Pedersen in the 5000m both not far off record pace. In the 800m it was Lottie Grimsey-Cook a clear winner from Graham Palmer.

It was a tight battle in the opening 300m with Peter Lamb taking a early lead only for Nick Foley to prove the stronger down the finishing straight with Kath Oliver in a F70 record breaking pace in third. In the 3200m it was a clear win for Graham Palmer fresh from a gold medal performance at Ballarat with Darren Riviere in the 60+ 4x2km relay. The final 1000m saw Luke Haines let rip with a fast 1000m. Haines was also a gold medal winner in 50+ 4x2km relay.

Another wet Wednesday saw a small group running tonight, but this did not affect the performance standards. Jessie Case blitzed the field in the 5000m, exceeding her own expectations while Jaime Bell was too good for Graham Palmer in the 3000m.
In the 800m it was a tight battle where Palmer and Riviere pushed Russell Middleton to a win and a new M70 record.

Masters stood up to be counted tonight with Eva Nicholls leading us off with a quick 200m. Michael Minney ticked all the boxes to submit a winning 3200m while Luke Haines and Jessica Case had a tight battle for the minor places. Minney was again too strong in the 1000m. With the rain clearing a smaller band of runners tackled a shorter distance program with Ben Jordan again in top form winning the opening 100m. Over the 2400m it was Michael Minney proving too strong for Jessie Case. In the last, it was again Jordan who dominated over the 1600m.

On a perfect winters night for racing we staged the Alan Foot Age graded 800m. The first heat saw Ben Jordan kick clear from the pack and sustain a blistering pace to cross over the line first and in doing so, claiming the M50 record. After crunching the numbers it was revealed that Jordan also claimed the Alan Foot trophy with a winning 86.7% edging out last year’s winner David Upfill on 84.5%. The second heat saw Micheal Parigi across the line first with a 73.3%, however the best performance was posted by Russell Middleton with 79.3% age graded result. The 2800m saw Michael Minney claim the win over Luke Haines. Ben Jordan again stepped up for the last with clear 1600m win.

The rain cleared and a small band hit the track with Lucas Pedersen claiming the opening 200m. Luke Haines held out a determined Darren Riviere in the 2000m division while it was Jessica Case who dominated the 4000m. Our final run over 600m saw Haines again first across the line with a blanket finish for the minor placings.

In ideal conditions Peter Lamb shaved a fraction of a second off his 400m record in a tight battle with Jo Grimsey. Over the longer distances we saw Darren Riviere claim the 2000m division with Skylah Lennon winning the 4000m and the 6000m division was won by Hamish Renkin. The 800m was an opportunity to let loose with some very fast times being posted headed by Lottie Grimsey-Cook.
