Some of our crew have found others boat to sail on, for the trip North to Exmouth, keep on eye on the JPK 45 ”Sirene “ as well as the Sydney 47 “Endorfin”. This should be good tussle. Good luck and stay safe, have a great race everyone. Wish we could be there.

Tomorrow is the official launch the beginning of the 2023 Fremantle to Exmouth Race and Rally!

Run over a distance comparable to that of the Sydney to Hobart Race, the 700-nautical mile Fremantle to Exmouth Race & Rally will take competing sailors from the first chilly winds of our southern winter to the balmy warmth of Australia’s Coral Coast.

We wish the Skipper and Crew of the 35+ boats taking part in this year’s event all the best!

To follow all of the action throughout be sure to be following the on Instagram and Fremantle to Exmouth Race & Rally on Facebook.

Wow, was going to write something myself, but just saw this and thought I should just share these nice words. Thankyou everyone who has sailed onboard and those that we raced against. It has been fun. Today we hand the keys to the new team. Hope they have the same fun and success as we have had.

This Saturday’s Roland Smith Race marks the final outing in WA for the Bishop Family’s CheckMate. A stalwart of Offshore Sailing for the past five years, CheckMate seldom missed a race and was usually on the podium.

Second in the 2020/21 Coveted Siska Trophy and third in 2021/22, the consistent Mills-designed King 40 is heading back to Sydney under new ownership. She will be missed!

Team, let’s sign off on a very good year. Please let me know who’s in, please include your partners.

We started well. Sailed well, then made an error approaching the finish, lost a crewman over the side, entered the restricted area trying to retrieve the crewman and therefore retired. Crewman is safe and well, nothing broke so now we prepare for the Naturaliste race starting on Friday the 31st of March. Well done to the winners and a big Thankyou to “Sirene” who helped out while we were sorting our mess out.

Thanks to the ongoing support from the guys at Gage Roads Brew Co and our skilled race team, this year's 𝗚𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗦 𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘 was another great success with 17 boats on the start line.

We are in the hunt. Looking forward to the last 4 races.

Here's an updated unofficial Siska Trophy Leaderboard, with four races to go, including the non-discardable Naturaliste & Exmouth races.

Lots of individual battles are developing - Crush v CheckMate for first, Lithium v Salacia II for third, Sirene v Al Fresco for fifth, etc.

Next event is Fremantle Sailing Club's Gage Roads day race on Sat 18 March 2023.

Roving reporter…. Offshore WA you’ve got people everywhere.

From our Roving Reporter at Pelican Point -

“Geoff explains to RPYC how Checkmate pulled off a win despite nuclear submarines having right of way. And he committed the cardinal sin of thanking his crew. Hoopra hoopra!”

Thanks Royal Perth Yacht Club for a fun evening and handing out some nice prizes to the placegetters.
