For many of our coaches, it starts with simply putting your hand up to help your child’s team – and before you know it, you are on the sideline with a whistle and a team looking to you! 😄

The 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 is designed to help first-time and developing coaches build their skills and confidence.

Online learning means you can work through it at your own pace and take some extra knowledge onto the court this season.

Basketball WA has released its updated Code of Conduct, which came into effect on 1 September 2026.

The Code is there to help make basketball a safe, respectful, inclusive and enjoyable environment for everyone – whether you are playing, coaching, refereeing, volunteering, supporting from the sidelines or helping behind the scenes.

It applies wherever basketball happens – on court, at training, at events, while travelling and online.

At the heart of it, its pretty simple:
🤝 Treat people with respect
🏀 Play and participate in the right spirit
👏 Respect our referees, officials and each other
💛 Help create a safe and welcoming environment
📱 Represent our game positively online

We encourage everyone in our basketball community to take a few minutes to familiarise themselves with the updated Code.

Because basketball is at its best when everyone feels welcome, respected and part of the game.

🏠 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬

What an exciting milestone! Seeing construction officially underway on the 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 is a very special moment for our Association and our community.

This has been a long-held dream, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped bring us to this point.

A huge thank you to the 𝗪𝗔 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗢𝗻 𝗪𝗔, 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆, 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗔, 𝗢𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 and our project builders 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 for helping turn the vision into reality.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank Rita Saffioti MLA, Don Punch MLA and the many 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗕𝗔 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘀, 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 who have advocated, planned and worked towards this new home over many years. So many people have played a part in getting us here.

Could you help our youngest players learn, build confidence and 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲? 🏀

Bunbury Basketball is seeking expressions of interest for 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 for our Year 1 competition in Season 2026/2027.

Game Leaders are not traditional referees. They are on court to 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 our youngest players as they begin their basketball journey.

It is about helping players understand the game as they play, encouraging participation and good sportsmanship, supporting developing coaches and creating a positive, fun environment for everyone.

You do not need to be there to call every whistle. You are there to 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹.
