AOG Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Competition Team

AOG Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Competition Team Traditional Brazilian Jiu jitsu, Self Defense for Kids and Adults. Chão BJJ encourages a equal balance of mind and body conditioning.

Our goal is to bring to Brisbane the tradition of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu created by the Gracie family, teaching self defense and Jiu-jitsu. Chão (pronounced "showm") in Brazil means "ground". The BJJ focus is grappling and ground fighting. At Chão BJJ, "ground" is not only the mat and the place where you meet your opponent, but also a state of mind - when you are grounded, you are in complete connect

ion with your own body, enabling you to tap into your inner wisdom and strength. This philosophy underpins all our teachings. The program strays away from the "win/lose competition philosophy" and focuses on training each student to find their ground by instilling a hard work ethic, a positive attitude, and a love for the Jiu-Jitsu life style. As both a martial art and a contact sport this is a great opportunity for you to learn how to persevere on the mats so you can persevere in life. Jiu-jitsu is also a great way of getting in shape, making friends, and having some relax and antistress time. Classes include techniques, physical drills and live training.

Dear grounded friends,

All weekend we have been wrestling with some very big questions about what move to make next. Do we hold off, should we wait for direction, will it pass by us, what is our duty of care in our community related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the close nature of our beloved Jiu Jitsu and after all the research and advice from much more knowledgable people than ourselves, we have decided the time for us to act, is now. So effective today we will pause the academy group classes until it is deemed responsible to train together again. We won't commit to the date today, but keep updating our advice and sharing with you.
It goes without saying we love the gentle art Jiu Jitsu - but not more than the health of our family and friends. We believe to be proactive is the caring and responsible thing to do for our greater community we feel.

Over the dojo closure (until we have more advice) will be offering multiple training options for BJJ, Ginastica Natural and Yoga that we will share with you in the next couple of days. We hope for your continued support and membership to enable us to continue to offer this work and build this amazing community as it is our passion to do. We are for sure nothing without each other and are so grateful to have you as our team.

For now eat well, breathe, meditate, get into nature, and use your jiu jitsu in the groundlessness of this situation.

We will be in touch in the next few days with different membership support options and would love to hear from you if you have any questions, suggestions or just want to reach out and connect.

Be well and wise,
Antonio Lauro and Kory
