Probably my favourite part of being a strength and conditioning coach is taking someone from their lowest (often physically and mentally), back to doing what they love.

I can really describe the satisfaction i get when i go and watch a clients first game back after an injury.

Ive worked with many clients from small reoccurring hamstring injuries to serious long term programs for ACL and achilles rehabilitation.

Foam roller or board presses are pretty awkward to do when training alone.

I love saving money and the real bench blocks are stupid expensive for what they are.

Pick yourself up a yoga block from K Mart for 5 bucks and borrow a drill with a hole saw and you have yourself a custom bench block.

Partial range presses are a favourite of mine for a number of reasons;

1- minimise shoulder pain when bench pressing

2- overcome sticking points that can lead to building a bigger bench press

3 - utilise in rehab to build strength through smaller range of movements and gradually drop down until full ROM is achieved

After being in the rowing strength game a few years now ive noticed a huge gap in the physical preparation of rowers. Especially in a club setting, thats why i have created RowStrong

In a force based sport you need to be strong, if you are currently rowing and arent doing strength training all year round you are missing out on huge performance gains.

It isnt just strength you need to worry about, just like the on water sessions different parts of the year require a different focus in the gym.

Working alongside your current training commitments, you have the freedom of gym training whenever suits you and the benefit of having an experienced coach guiding you throughout the year to put you in the best position come state champs and nationals!

Dionis only ever trained once a week due to his football commitments but his physical robustness increased dramatically in a 6 month period.

Taking him from a fringe player that was in and out of the squad to a consistent starting 11 player.

If you are a footballer in the junior NPL system you need to be doing some strength training in your week.

Start with the basics and build a strong base
