WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION HOLIDAY CAMPS:

THE S.E. MELBOURNE PHOENIX X WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL HOLIDAY CAMPS ARE BACK!

Players will have the opportunity to train with Western Port Steelers Coaches and South-East Melbourne Phoenix Coaches in a fun, high-energy environment focused on skill development, confidence and a love of the game.

We’ve got TWO camp options to help players get involved:

SUPERCAMP - Open to all skill levels! A great opportunity to develop your fundamentals, build confidence, challenge yourself and learn from experienced coaches with the chance to maybe meet some Phoenix players! Two dates.

DEVELOPMENT CAMP - Designed for intermediate players looking to refine their skills, improve their game and take their basketball to the next level.

Bring your friends, get involved and make the most of your school holidays on the court!

WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION NEWS:

BIGV EVOLVES AFTER 25 YEARS – WELCOME VBL.

With the onset of the 2027 season, Big V will become the Victorian Basketball League (VBL), transitioning a proud history into an exciting new era for senior representative basketball in Victoria.

For 25 years, BigV has been at the heart of senior representative basketball across Victoria.

It has created opportunities for thousands of players, coaches, officials and volunteers, creating unforgettable moments for clubs and communities throughout Victoria, forging friendships along the way.

Big V was originally built on the foundations laid by four senior leagues that came together to form the competition, continuing a proud tradition shaped by generations. Their contribution is part of the fabric of Victorian basketball.

It’s also a natural identity step creating a real transitional feel starting with the VJBL, through VBL, NBL1, and NBL.

The legacy is not being replaced. It is being strengthened.

WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION BREAKING NEWS:

We are humbled and, at the same time, excited to have been honoured by BigV as the 2026 Club of the Year.

The award was accepted on behalf of the Association by our own 400 gamer Rachael Wansbrough who is at the BigV Awards with a number of fellow Steelers.

It's a wonderful time for Western Port.

WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL ASSOCATION VJBL STEELERS:

NEWS UPDATES FROM OUR JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE STEELERS, brought to you by our major program sponsor, Frankston, Mornington & Westernport Ford - Locals Supporting Locals!

First up, we had 8 of our U12-U18 squads competing in Preliminary Finals last night. From all reports some great contests, resulting in 3 squads moving into the Grand Finals, joining another 2 who qualified last week. We still of course have 3 of our U20 squads still to compete in Preliminary Finals tomorrow night.

To our teams finishing up the season last night, thank you for your commitment and dedication to the Steelers. We trust that you have enjoyed the season, learned alot, and are looking to come back when tryouts start this month. There are some amazing things happening at the Association.

We've also had another two athletes celebrating milestones recently and wanted to give them a shout out. Shannon S (GU20.1) and Jack L (BU16.1) are to be congratulated for their determination in reaching 50 games. A credit to the athletes and their families and we thank them for that.
