Thanks to for putting on a great night of boxing to crown the latest crop of state champions.
First up we had an interesting bout between our own stable mates. Dan & Chris. They each nominated in different classes and due to them having no opposition, we were offered for them to box eachother, the boys accepted while Ari & I flipped a coin to determine who cornered who.. We told the boys to go hard & go for broke just like they do in sparring & they sure put on a wonderful display of boxing! The bout for the Masters Open 65kg state title. High volume of shots from both boys, Dan came away victorious but not by much, his shots being a bit cleaner being the tell difference. Chris boxed one of his best performances to date & should be exceptionally proud as he stepped up from a novice of 4 fights experience to box Dan who is an open of 17 fights experience. Dans had over a decade off competition looked right at home on the big stage. Well done Dan & Chris! I’d be happy to run it back!
Next up we had Lucas competing for the Elite Intermediate 70kg state title. As a true professional, he left no stone unturned in his preparation & it showed under the bright lights. Displaying a masterclass of skilful backfoot boxing against a pressure fighter, Lucas was hard to hit making his opponent miss & pay for it with clean counters.
Thankyou to everyone who makes these events happen, there is a lot work put in by countless ppl, officials, organisers, coaches, athletes, supporters. Id also like to give a shout out to stable mates of rose boxing, we ran a completely new structure this year that was very successful, thanks Ben, Torin, Tomi, Vik, Paully, Dan, Nick, Trif, the vibe was great! Interclubs we worked with this year, you know who you are! Thankyou very much for being so easy to work with & welcoming!
Lastly and most importantly our loved ones, giving up time with you is the hardest part. We hope what we do inspires you to push yourself to excelling in your passions & we can’t wait to support you in those journeys. Rose Boxing.
