Somerset Amateur Basketball Association The Somerset Amateur Basketball Association was established in 1985 and operates out of the Somerset Indoor Recreation Centre.

We are the youngest of eight regional associations competing in the North West Basketball Union in Tasmania. The Somerset Basketball Association consists of many dedicated coaches, committee members and players that spend a lot of their time helping to keep the club up and running. There are a handful of life members listed below that have contributed so much to our organisation:

The Somerset Basketball association focuses on giving players the best opportunity to take their potential to its maximum and providing a respectful and enjoyable environment where the players can not only improve their basketball skills but interact and build friendships with one another. A huge congratulations to all our incredible players for giving it their all every single week. Your grit, sportsmanship, and growth on and off the court have made us so proud.

A special thank you to our dedicated coaches and managers—the backbone of our team. Your tireless work behind the scenes, endless encouragement, and strategic planning made all these achievements possible.

And finally, to our parents and supporters, thank you for driving the long distances, brave-facing the early mornings, washing the kits, and cheering louder than anyone else from the sidelines.

This season’s success belongs to every single one of you.

PLEASE NOTE … some players are playing two age groups.

There are a significant number of new players … please make them & their parents feel welcomed & assist them to have an enjoyable experience.
If your child is in a team & they are not playing please let me know.

We ENCOURAGE boys in the teams with byes to turn-up if possible as they may get a game as a fill-in.

We remind all coaches, parents & players that this is our development roster & an opportunity for our more experienced players to help their less skilled teammates get better by sharing the ball & give plenty of encouragement!
We also expect all parents to help out with bench duty when asked … as it’s a great opportunity to learn in a stress free environment whilst supporting your child in their chosen sport.
REMINDER … if you’ve kindly offered to take & wash a set of uniforms that they must be back in time for the teams game the following week … 🙏

The Somerset Amateur Basketball Association (SABA) is gearing up for our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), and we want YOU to be a part of shaping the future of basketball in our community!
