A few months ago our very own Mark Innes made a massive decision to pack the family up to help his son develop his cricket career. For anyone who knows maxi knows he has some serious talent. Starting his career at the strikers we knew we wouldn’t hang onto him long. His improvement continued as he branched out playing and learning his trade under the guidance from the classy wynyard tigers. Stories like this don’t happen very often and not with out extreme hard work and dedication. To the Innes family we congratulate you as maxi spun Darwin to a grand final win. We can’t wait to see what the future holds but for right now enjoy the good times mate well done

Our newest life member

Andrew “goat” Wylie has received a life membership for his outstanding commitment to our club. Goat needs no introduction across the BCL he’s commonly known and respected as one of the games greats. Goats done it all at Somerset and continues to do so. A familiar face who always lends a hand. Truly one of the greatest and we are extremely lucky to have this man at our club. We thank you for everything mate

The Somerset strikers season has ended.

We would like to thank all our sponsors for the support. Goes without saying if we didn’t have your support we wouldn’t survive. To all the players we thank you for giving up your Saturday to come help push our club into the future. To all the volunteers you guys and girls are the true back bone of the club I know personally I’d be lost with out you.

This year wasn’t our year but we still had some positives. One of our greatest ever clubman in Andrew goat Wylie scored his maiden century. We had the emergence of young Xavier hicks stepping up into A grade and proving he has what it takes. We had a few players push them selves and see the rewards. For me my favourite was we introduced an under 12’s cricket team playing under the Somerset name in the cricket northwest competition. After seeing the wynyard cubs first hand today proves to me us making this move is a positive step in securing the clubs future as we unlock the next local superstars.

We as a club will reset, regroup and come back stronger next year. So enjoy the break stay in touch with our mates and enjoy some family time. We wish the other teams in the comp all the best as they chase the ultimate. Another side with a tough season is our A grade side.
A few close games against some very competitive sides showed the boys they were not far of the mark and the bond the side had by the end of the season and their every team is beatable attitude challenged even the top teams.
