Carbon Bike Doctor is a Carbon Fibre Repair business (based in Somersby - Greater Sydney, Australia) that can repair your bike at a fraction of the cost of replacement. We care about cyclists and the bike industry and want to help people get the best out of their bikes. We are always striving to exceed customer expectations and we care about people and getting you safely back on your bike. You can

trust us to be independent and look after your needs. Our Founder Tristan Tucker has a simple philosophy: We strive to help our customers by providing them with the best experience possible. Whether through fixing your bike or building you a new one - we are here to help you. We want to also contribute to the environment by saving your bike and minimising waste. High-performance bikes use the same advanced materials (e.g. Pre-Preg Carbon Fibre composites, Titanium and lightweight alloys) and construction techniques as Carbon Fibre Yachts. They both have complex components that must perform under load and stress when pushed to the limit under race conditions. You can drop off your bike at our workshop or we can assist to arrange delivery by courier. We prefer bikes to be stripped down and clean for ease of repair, however, we can also offer this as a service. OUR SERVICES:

Minimal Italian flag tri-colour stripe for some detail.

We recorded the weights of each process. 90 grams of paint was removed; 50 grams of higher-quality epoxy paint was reapplied. This resulted in better adhesion, a harder surface, improved abrasion and chip resistance, and a coating that is genuinely waterproof.

Final frame weight 750 grams - 50 grams for the coating.

The clear Epoxy undercoat is a perfect hard base for this paint job and is made to adhere to carbon. So it will never go milky. It has added 20 grams.

We then add a black-and-white epoxy undercoat as the base for the graphics colours, providing better adhesion and crisp, hard edges for the lettering and details.

Everyone loves an airbrushed Italian flag detail.

The S-WORKS SL6 has been completely restored and updated. It boasts a sleek, minimalist yet premium paint scheme with a black epoxy primer, a subtle black base colour, and a colour-shifting pearl overlay. The crisp white graphics stand out sharply, creating a strong contrast, and everything is finished off with a satin clear coat. The graphics have been carefully sized and positioned to better match the SL8 for a more modern appeal, with all the trim details and black bidon bosses.

Not all carbon repairs are created equal.

We recently inspected this frame after a previous repair failed. The repair was done elsewhere - the issue wasn’t the damage itself but the repair method, materials used, and the ex*****on.

❌ Resin-rich wet laminate used
❌ Incorrect fibre orientation over the existing damage
❌ Poor consolidation - high porosity and void content
❌ Low interlaminar shear and peel strength
❌ No structural load path restored
❌ Inclusion of foreign material — tape in the laminate

Carbon fibre isn’t just cosmetic - it’s an engineered, directional material. If the repair doesn’t match the original structure, failure is only a matter of time.
