Taking advantage of a beautiful day three boats sailed out to the lead lights and started the Alan Moore Memorial Cockle Spot Challenge. The wind was a consistent northerly so two large tacks were required to get above Cockle Spit where a brisk breeze carried us around the top of the north Cockle Spit marker spit and then down back to the lead lights. In first place was Appledore II with Shane, Riley and Maddy on board. In second place was Mermaid Cafe with Roger and Tina. On Esmerelda in third position was Syd, Todd and his daughters who enjoyed steering Esmeralda.
The breeze lightened up just as the race was finishing but was perfect for getting around the course.
When we got back to the club rooms Gene and Doug had turned on a lovely afternoon tea. No dinner needed that night! Thanks to Shane for organising and Gene and Doug for feeding us.

Last night we had another lovely Presentation Night where the kids who came to sailing classes on Saturday mornings were given their achievement certificates and the Bernie Collins Memorial race winners were presented with their trophies. Levi was given the Peter Major Junior Encouragement award for great improvement during the season. Well done to all the junior and senior sailors who enjoyed their sailing during the 2025/ 2026 sailing season

Sailing school is going well with three pacers and two Sabers getting out on the water on Saturday mornings. There is a real buzz at the club with happy kids and adults messing about with boats. Nothing better on a lovely summer morning
