WOW, Renee Briffa! 🤩 What an incredible set of results from the World Masters Athletics Championships – WMAC Daegu, South Korea! 🇰🇷🏃‍♀️

Renee has finished the competition with an outstanding Gold medal in the 4 x 400m Relay 🥇, TWO Silver medals in the 400m & 200m 🥈🥈, and a fantastic 4th place in the 100m — her least-preferred event!

Renee, you are an amazing athlete and an inspiration to so many. Your dedication, determination and commitment are truly inspiring.

Congratulations, Renee! 👏🏃‍♀️ What an incredible performance and achievement. You should be incredibly proud! 🌟

🙌 A massive thank you to the the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund for awarding UniSC Athletics a generous $35,000 grant, which has allowed us to purchase a brand-new Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) device for our throw’s events.

This piece of modern World Athletics standard technology is a game changer for our club, athletes, officials, and the wider athletics community

🔹More Throws: Reduced time constraints mean competitors at our mini meets get more attempts to nail their personal bests and no need to borrow an EDM for our major meets.

2026 AA XC Championships 🇦🇺🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Wow, what an amazing weekend for our UniSC Athletics Club Cross Country runners at the 2026 Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships in Ballarat! 🇦🇺

Two Australian Champions were crowned, along with a silver medal and two 4th-place finishes. Many of our athletes also represented QLD in the age Relays on the Sunday gaining 2 Gold🥇, 2 Silver🥈 and 2 Bronze🥉medals — an outstanding set of results!

But the biggest congratulations go to EVERY athlete who made it to the Championships. Tackling that incredibly muddy and challenging course took plenty of courage, determination and guts. You are all winners! 💪👏

A very special mention to Taylor Chapman, who not only competed in the U14 Cross Country, but then backed up on Sunday to compete in — and WIN — the U14 title at the 2026 Australian Athletics Junior Race Walking Championships! 🏆🥇

What an awesome effort, Tay! Two Australian Championship events in one weekend — absolutely sensational! 👏🔥

Unfortunately, Craig Parker has had to withdraw due to injury. We wish Craig a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the track soon.

Dear members and friends,

Please see the advice below from UniSC Sport regarding the closure of the track and infield this week. Some school activities have been permitted to continue due to the high level of supervision in place.

Please take note of the closure and any resulting impact on your training or activities.

We regret to advise that the UniSC Athletics Track sustained significant damage as a result of vandalism that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Following an assessment of the damage, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all community UniSC Athletics Track and infield bookings from Monday 10 August 2026 to Sunday 16 August 2026. This decision has been made to ensure the safety of all users and to allow time for further assessment of the facility and planning of any required remediation works.

We understand this disruption will impact your activities and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Our team is working closely with relevant stakeholders to assess the extent of the damage and determine the earliest possible timeframe for the UniSC Athletic Track’s return to operation.

We will continue to keep user groups informed as further information becomes available. Bookings scheduled beyond 16 August 2026 will be reviewed, and an update will be provided as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding, patience and ongoing support during this time. We appreciate the important role your clubs and organisations play in our community and look forward to welcoming you back to the UniSC Athletics Track as soon as it is safe to do so.
