Winter Nourishing Tea Ritual ❄️

A gentle herbal blend to warm, restore and nourish Kidney energy through Winter

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter is connected to the Kidney meridian — the energetic root of our vitality, resilience and deep reserves of life force.

During this season, the body naturally craves warmth, grounding, nourishment and slower rituals that help us conserve and protect our energy.

One of the simplest and most beautiful ways to support this is through a warming herbal tea ritual 🤍

Winter Kidney Nourishing Tea

✨ 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
✨ 1 small cinnamon stick
✨ 2–3 slices dried licorice root (or a small pinch)
✨ 1 tsp goji berries
✨ 2 cups water

Optional:
✨ drizzle of honey
✨ splash of oat or almond milk

Gently simmer for 10–15 minutes.
Strain slowly into your favourite mug.

As you sip, allow the warmth to move through the body like medicine.
Softening. Grounding. Restoring.

In TCM:
❄️ Ginger helps warm and stimulate circulation
❄️ Cinnamon brings warmth and movement to cold stagnant energy
❄️ Licorice root is deeply harmonising and nourishing
❄️ Goji berries are traditionally used to support Kidney and Liver essence, vitality and replenishment

Winter reminds us that nourishment is not something to rush.

Perhaps your tea becomes more than just tea this season.

A pause.
A ritual.
A quiet moment of returning home to yourself.

This beautiful energy of slowing down, preserving and replenishing is something we will deeply explore within our upcoming Yin & Qi Gong immersion — aligning ourselves with the rhythms of Winter, the Water element and the wisdom of restoration 🤍

Why Slow Practices Matter in Winter

Winter carries a very different energy to the warmer, outward-moving seasons.

It is quieter.
Stiller.
More introspective.

And yet… many of us continue trying to move at the same fast pace all year round — often leaving the nervous system exhausted, depleted and overstimulated.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter is the season of the Water element — connected to the Kidneys, deep energy reserves, and preservation of life-force.

This is why slower practices such as Yin Yoga and Qigong are so supportive during this time of year.

✨ Slower movement helps regulate the nervous system
✨ Deep breathing supports healthy qi flow
✨ Long holds nourish fascia and connective tissue
✨ Intentional movement improves circulation and energetic flow
✨ Stillness creates space for emotional release and clarity
✨ Gentle rhythmic movement supports immunity and vitality

Qigong works to awaken and circulate energy through the meridian pathways using slow meditative movement, breath and awareness.

Yin Yoga complements this beautifully by inviting the body into stillness — allowing the tissues, joints and energetic channels time to soften, release and absorb.

Together, they create the perfect balance of movement and yielding.
Yang and Yin.
Awakening and surrender.

Winter does not ask us to stop completely.
It simply asks us to move differently.

More consciously.
More gently.
More intentionally.

This is the essence of our upcoming Winter immersion — a space to reconnect, restore and come back into harmony with the season itself 🤍

The intentional slowness and stillness of Winter, encourages us go within. When we listen, our bodies are nourished, restored and revitalised, when Springtime comes around.

Very much in tune with the nature of the seasons.

A Moving Meditation for Winter

Imagine an afternoon where time softens…
where the breath deepens…
where the body unwinds layer by layer.

This Winter, I invite you into a beautiful Yin Yoga & Qigong immersion designed to restore, replenish and reconnect you back to yourself.

Rooted in the ancient philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this practice honours the seasonal energy of Winter — a time of stillness, reflection, preservation and deep nourishment.

Through slow meditative Qigong forms, we gently awaken and redirect chi through the meridian channels, allowing stagnant energy to clear and transform.

Through Yin Yoga, we soften into long supported holds, releasing deeply held tension through the fascia, connective tissues and energetic pathways of the body.

Together, these practices become a moving meditation.

An opportunity to:
✨ Slow the nervous system
✨ Support immunity and vitality
✨ Strengthen and preserve Kidney Jing
✨ Cultivate healthy qi flow
✨ Release physical and emotional holding
✨ Feel grounded, clear and energetically balanced

Our immersion will gently weave together movement, breath, stillness, meditation and sound healing — creating space for complete absorption and restoration.

Winter reminds us that rest is not laziness.
Stillness is not stagnation.
Softening is not weakness.

Sometimes healing begins simply by allowing ourselves to pause.

If your body has been craving stillness…
If your mind has been overstimulated…
If your energy feels scattered or depleted…

This practice is for you.

Come cocoon with us this Sunday afternoon 🤍

Understanding Kidney Essence & Jing in Winter

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter is associated with the Kidneys — considered the root of our life-force energy.

Stored within the Kidneys is something known as Jing (Essence).
Often described as our deepest energetic reserve, Jing is sometimes referred to as our “pre-natal chi” — the precious vitality we inherit from the moment of conception.

Jing governs:
✨ vitality and endurance
✨ growth and regeneration
✨ immunity and resilience
✨ longevity and healthy ageing
✨ deep restorative energy

When our energy is constantly moving outward — rushing, overworking, overstimulating, over giving — we can begin to feel depleted on a much deeper level.

Winter teaches us something different.

Nature slows down.
Trees conserve.
Animals hibernate.
The earth becomes still.

This season reminds us that restoration is sacred.

Practices such as Yin Yoga, Qigong, meditation, breathwork, nourishing foods and conscious rest all help to preserve and protect Kidney essence, allowing us to replenish rather than continually exhaust ourselves.

This is one of the reasons Winter-inspired Yin and Qigong practices can feel so profoundly healing.

The slower pace allows the nervous system to soften.
The breath deepens.
The body begins to repair.
Qi flows more harmoniously.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do for our wellbeing is simply slow down enough to listen.

Our upcoming immersion is designed as exactly that — a cocoon of restoration, stillness and energetic nourishment for Winter 🤍

Winter Yin Poses for Nourishing the Kidney & Bladder Meridians

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter is connected to the Water element — the season of the Kidneys and Bladder meridians.

This season invites us to slow down, conserve energy, soften our pace, and restore our deepest reserves rather than constantly pushing outward.

One of the most beautiful ways to support the body during Winter is through slow, grounding Yin practices that nourish the connective tissues, calm the nervous system, and stimulate energetic flow through the meridian pathways.

Here are a few beautiful Yin poses we will explore within our immersion together:

❄️ Butterfly Pose
Gently opens the inner legs and lower back while stimulating the Kidney and Bladder meridians. A beautiful pose for softening inward and settling the mind.

❄️ Dragonfly Pose
Creates spaciousness through the hips, hamstrings and adductors while encouraging energy to move through the Water element pathways.

❄️ Supported Child’s Pose
A deeply nurturing posture that encourages surrender, grounding and nervous system restoration — like cocooning into stillness.

❄️ Sleeping Swan
Targets the deeper layers of fascia around the hips and pelvis, areas where we often store tension, fatigue and emotional holding.

In Yin, we are not forcing the body to open.
We soften.
We yield.
We listen.

Combined with the flowing meditative movements of Qi Gong, this creates a practice that feels deeply balancing during Winter — awakening chi while also preserving and protecting our energy reserves.

A reminder that Winter is not a season for depletion.
It is a season for restoration 🤍
