🥋 Melbourne International Judo Open 2026 🥋

Ginkan Judo School had a fantastic weekend at the Melbourne International Judo Open, with all athletes giving their best in every contest.

It was a tough competition across all divisions, and we are incredibly proud of the way our athletes applied themselves on the mat. Their determination, resilience, and commitment were on full display throughout the event.

Ginkan would like to congratulate all athletes who competed, showing great spirit, discipline, and respect—both on and off the mat. 👏

A special thank you to Eric Amani, who not only competed himself but also stepped in as coach for Zeak Porter and Ethan Maney. Your dedication and support are truly appreciated. 🙌

We also congratulate Rose Smith on her Silver medal performance (coached by Terry), and a special mention to Theresa Smith for officiating as a referee at this competition.

Seventeen athletes proudly represented Tasmania, showing tremendous support for one another throughout the weekend—true team spirit in action. 💪

A big thank you to our amazing parents and supporters. Your encouragement and support for all athletes made the weekend even more special. 🙏

Thanks to everyone involved.

The Kata Seminar held on Sunday 8th March 2026 was a fantastic session.

It was a great day for all who attended, gaining invaluable knowledge and practice in Nage No Kata.

Mr Ernie Wakamatsu Sensei (who has competed in five World Kata tournaments) delivered both the fundamental and finer points, generously sharing his vast knowledge and experience.

Everyone who attended came away with valuable insights and a deeper understanding from the session.
