End of an Era!
Last weekend was our very last event for offering timing services. Bitter sweet, as we love travelling to the many events and catching up with so many friends, while provided valuable services to small rural clubs. We are both very proud of what we have been doing for the past 14 years.
It all started with a conversation with legends of 5 rural triathlon clubs. A desperate need to get affordable timing at events, with timely (pardon the pun) and accurate results. This meant investing in modern technology and a commitment from the 5 clubs for 3 years. Word soon spread and within a couple of years we were doing more than 25 events during the main spring/summer/autumn periods. All types of events: Triathlons, Swims, Fun Runs, MTB and CX, and even 16 hour Endurance events.
In the earlier years we lead the formation of a Rural Triathlon Series with 7 clubs initially participating. Such an important role and we were the key link due to our services common to all clubs. What a rewarding period that was and we still have a few of the Telstra series towels floating around the home. Hard work, but important work.
As technology improved we embraced it. Investing in solutions to give real time results, now expected from athletes, from anywhere in the world. Timing points that allowed visual for race organizers from any point on course, assisting with traffic and athlete management. This didn't come cheap, and the benefits were directly passed to clubs at no extra cost. But that was our vision and mission and we proudly stuck to that.
But now we can hang up our timing boots knowing we supported so many events for so long. We both work full time professionally, and were fully stretched with commitments for so long. Loved every minute of it.
We now turn our time to ourselves, being parents and now grandparents, travelling, and enjoying time with friends and recreation.
So, we would like to thank everyone we have met along the way who have entrusted us to deliver outcomes.
Our final chip has now been read and captured into permanent results. Our website at www.fastfinish.com.au will be available into the foreseeable future to give clubs and athletes an opportunity to compare results and continue to strive.
Wishing the best for all clubs and participants going forward. We have truly appreciated your support, the many friendships and happy memories made with you all in different ways throughout our journey. Who knows, you might see us at your events in the future, having a crack ourselves.
