⛰️Mountaineers Abroad For The Winter⛰️

Cricket continues through the winter for some of our Mountaineers, with Logan Heazlewood, Alex and Georgia King along with Jonah Evans, all heading to the abroad for their upcoming seasons.

Logan will be based in Hampshire in the UK playing his first season overseas, joining Cove Cricket Club (Cove Cricket Club)where he’ll feature as a key lead bowler in the Thames Valley Cricket League.

Alex returns to the UK for his fifth season, once again based in North London, he will be lining up with Leverstock Green Cricket Club (Leverstock Green Cricket Club) as a wicketkeeper/batsman in the Hertfordshire Premier League.
Georgia, our female coach, will also be pulling on the Leverstock Green colours, playing in the lower grades this season.

In addition to this, Jonah Evans will be travelling to Amsterdam in the Netherlands to join Dosti Cricket (dosticc) club to play in the Dutch league.

Matches will begin in the coming weeks, with games livestreamed each Saturday from around 9pm Tas time. To stay up to date, be sure to follow the tagged clubs for fixtures and live coverage.

📣 Welcome Home Jonah Evans 🏠⛰️

The Mountaineers are pleased to announce the return of Jonah Evans to the Coast and back into the Green and Gold!

After contributing consistently to our T20 campaign last season, Jonah spent the Summer playing with South Hobart Sandy Bay, gaining valuable Premier League experience and making his CTPL 1st Grade debut. He closed out the season in emphatic fashion, scoring 203* off 250 balls in SHSB 2nd Grade’s final fixture against Glenorchy.

Jonah’s love for the game, batting strengths, and versatility across multiple other areas of the game make him a great addition to our squad for next Summer!

We are also looking forward to seeing Sarah, Jez, Susie and Bryce around the club again.

Welcome Matt Varner!

Sheffield Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Matt Varner, joining the Mountaineers for the 2026/27 season.

Matt’s record speaks for itself - a genuine star of the CNW competition. With 148 wickets at an average of 11 and multiple Best on Ground performances in Grand Finals, he arrives under the Mountain as one of the premier performers in the Greater North!

But it’s not just a premier cricketer we welcome. We’re excited to bring a wonderful family into our club and community, and look forward to seeing Matt, Jordanne and their daughter Romy walk through the doors of SCC.

We can’t wait to see Matt take the field in the Green & Gold and begin his journey as a Mountaineer.

🏆SCC Awards Night🏆

That’s a wrap on the 25/26 cricket season under the Mountain.

Our 25/26 Awards night was held last night and our junior dinner a couple of weeks ago.

Congratulations to all our awards winners and thank you again to our loyal volunteers and supporters.

Our Club is in a great position winning the Gordon Rimmer Club Championship for the 3rd year in a row, in addition to the First Grade Women and Women’s Social League trophies throughout the season.

🟢🟡 COLLIER STARS WITH THE BAT 🟢🟡

In our First Grade Semi Final, Harry Collier produced a superb innings, batting through the entire days play.

Harry finished unbeaten on 157, guiding our lads with a composed and well constructed innings. This also marks Harry’s first century for the club, since joining us from Queensland at the beginning of last season. A terrific effort made by Harry to help see our lads progress to this week’s Grand Final.
