After a season and a half of hard yakka and hard lessons getting our new crew combinations together, we finally put together a race we are proud of and a result or two.

1st and 2nd on pointscore in club champs.

Still a few wobbly moments but the puzzle that is sailing a skiff, and racing the best in the world, is slowly taking shape.

Looking forward to nationals in 3 weeks.

What a big day out on the sound.
With Simon celebrating his birthday on with an overseas trip Dylin jumped on for his 4th time ever on a 16 and into the deep end of a fresh 18 to 25 Knott NorEaster.

It was a ragged day with steep learning curve and crew combinations. And whilst we didn’t finish a race with many swims, two of which were when Mike left the boat for a 50 swim back. I remember looking up with bemusement as Dylin suddenly looked very lonely on wire and Mike was left in a jet stream of skiff wake in the yachting lane.

Apparently we clocked the fastest speed check for the fleet for the day, (subject to beer on the balcony verification).

As we were blasting past the bombey under kite, I asked Dylin how much he “was going to sell his NS14 for”. His reply from trapeze
“I am going to give it away free, this is Fu*~ #% awesome”

The start of the 2024/25 Racing Season heralds a new era for the MH44 16'Skiff racing team.

With Neil and Tony stepping away to pursue other opportunities both on and off the water, Rohan is joined by Mike Franklin on main and Simon Webb on bow.

Thank you to Tony and Neil for the last 5 years of racing, good rides, big swims and mateship on and off the water. It has been a wonderful re-entry back in to dinghy sailing and the wild world of racing 16’s.

With a new crew combination and a steep learning curve, we are looking forward to developing together as a team as we chase big rides, great commaradre both on and off the water and the results that will come along the way.

Last Saturday was the showing of what is to come, finishing our first race on a tricky southerly course that saw 30 knotts at the bottom mark and 5 at the top. Top boat speed for the day clocked at 20 knotts.

Hi Sailors

I am looking for crew being semi-experienced to experienced on trapeze to sail on MH44 16ft skiff, racing out of Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club for the 24/25 summer season.

The boat is owned in an equal 3rd share ownership syndicate.

$3000 to buy in.

The boat kitty is financial with 2024/25 season race/sailing costs covered from each prior seasons prize money.

After that out of pocket expenses are usually only around $200 per season.
Great value for 1/3 ownership and regular racing.

We are committed to sailing every Saturday barring lifey stuff that comes up.
