Well Squashies that’s a wrap for 2023 and what a fitting end to the last comp of the year.
Conditions tonight were tough with the temperature sucking out what little oxygen there was on the court.
Let’s not muck around and get into the results from tonight’s grand final.
As we started tonight one game had already been played. Line 3 where Ben got Noman’s Nomads off to a great start beating Josh 3-0.
The night started with Toby and Josh (line 5) with Josh getting one back for Havyatt’s Hopefuls winning 3-1.
The next game was Line 2 with super sub Paul taking home the biscuits this time around against Allyson 3-0.
Linda and Anthony were next on the court for Line 6 and although the game scores were close Anthony got the win 3-0.
Unfortunately for Line 4 Anthony wasn’t able to make it tonight it due to work so he brought in sub Sharon and what a performance it was. Sharon was able to pick up the win 3-1 and bring Havyatt’s Hopefuls back to 2-3.
The final match of the night was Line 1 with Noman against Nick. Going into this match Nick needed to win to take out the night or at least win 2 games and have a point score win of at least 7 points.
This match did not disappoint the small crowd that had gathered for the night. Both as expected tried to take control of the match. Noman taking the first 17-15 and the second 15-10. Just when Nick was looking defeated he took out the third 16-14 and everyone thought we would be in for a five setter. However, Noman muscled through and took the fourth 15-11.
This took Noman’s team through to win even though the match scores were 3-3.
Well done to all that played this comp and thanks to the committee that have taken the time to clean the courts, stock the fridge and make sure the comp ran smoothly for all players.
Scone Squashies would also like to thank SportsPower Scone for donating some of the prizes to all our grand finalists tonight.
