Scarborough District Cricket Club, Western Australia

Scarborough District Cricket Club, Western Australia KMPG Statewide T20 Champions 2011-12; WACA 1st Grade Champions 06-07, 07-08, 08-09, 09-10.

The Scarborough Cricket Club was formed in 1946 as part of the Scarborough Sportsmen's Club and competed with considerable success in the Metroplitan Cricket Association. In 1957/58 the club was admitted into the WACA competition, limited to Second Grade and Third Grade teams. In the next 10 seasons the club progressed to having a Fourth Grade team, which went on to win the club's first Premiershi

p in 1966/67. After much lobbying and hard work by the committee of the time, Scarborough Cricket Club earned promotion into the First Grade competition in 1968/69. Success in the early 1970's saw the club participate in three successive First Grade Finals, culminating in the club winning it's first First Grade Flag in the 1976/77 season. The 1980's saw a relatively lean period for the club with appearances in the finals very rare and a lack of success in most grades. With a heavy emphasis on home grown talent and a strong junior development program, Scarborough emerged in the 1990's as one of the power cluubs of the WACA competition. With First Grade Premierships in 1991/92, 1994/95, 1997/98 and 1999/2000 as well as three WACA Club Championships in 1993/94, 1996/97, 1999/2000. In 2002/03 the club reached the finals in all four grades, emulating the feat of the 1999/2000 season, and at last won the Sunday League One-Day competition. Following the success of the previous season, Scarborough went on to win the 2003/04 Club Championship and 2004/05 Club Championship. This run of success for the club resulted in First Grade Premierships in the 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09, 2009/10 seasons, making Scarborough one of the most formidable teams in the 2000's. With the addition of Twenty20 Cricket into WACA competition in 2007/08 season, it did not take long for Scarborough to win the Twenty20 Competition in 2011/12. Over the years, the club has been represented by many players who have progressed through the junior development program and reached First Class Cricket, representing Western Australia and some players progressing to represent Australia.

📣 HEAD COACH APPOINTMENT 📣
Scarborough Cricket Club is excited to announce the appointment of Ben Williams as our new Head Coach.

Ben brings with him a proven track record as both a successful Premier player and coach. Most importantly, Ben already has a clear vision for the future of our club and how he can help all of our players throughout the ranks improve and get the best out of themselves via a collaborative approach.

This next chapter is all about player development and maximising potential. Ben is committed to building an environment where hard work, accountability and attention to detail drives success. A strong focus on fielding standards, the 1%ers, and highlighting individual and team brilliance will underpin everything we do.

This is about creating a culture where every player from Juniors through Seniors is supported, challenged and given the opportunity to evolve, with communication the cornerstone.

We’re excited for a fresh direction, a selfless team-first mindset, and a renewed energy across the club.

The future is built on effort, development and a constant commitment to improving the Club as a whole, and it starts now!

The club would like to sincerely thank outgoing coach David Baird, who has completed his three-year term with Scarborough.

David brought genuine passion to the role, investing an enormous amount of time and effort, much of it behind the scenes, which has not gone unnoticed and is deeply appreciated by everyone at the club. David brought the annual review in, which was a fantastic document highlighting our very proud history.

A highlight of David’s tenure was guiding both the 1st and 2nd Grade sides to Grand Finals - fantastic achievements, even if they fell just short on the day.

David has made a lasting contribution to Scarborough, and we hope the club will always feel like home for him, where he is welcomed back anytime.

Thank you again, David, for your commitment and contribution 🙏

RND 1️⃣5️⃣ RESULTS, thanks to round sponsor In Marvelus Berries (marvelusberries.au) 🍓

Firsts put in a good shift to defend their first innings score - bowling Willetton out and seeing the season off on a positive note, while Thirds did the same to seal the W in brutalising fashion and stamp their ticket into finals! Meanwhile U17s chased down required runs accentuated by a strong 107 run partnership between Ollie Syminton 67* (120) and Kade Cavanagh 55 (80) 🔥
