‼️CITY OF MELBOURNE TITLES‼️

Joel headed up to Melbourne with high hopes for the weekend. Was definitely not the weekend we were hoping for. But we push on for the next one, KA3 cup!

Friday- Pretty rough day. Not getting dialed in with driving and missing the last session of the day. Didn’t make a heap of ground. But still had a heap of learning throughout the day.

Qualifying- Not too bad of a session. Still driving a bit silly being stuck in traffic the entire time hindered Joel’s session a fair bit. Ended up P16 out of 26.

Heat 1- Ouch. Come across the line P20… just not driving smart at all. Had top 15 pace but just not switched on mentally causing the bad results.

Heat 2- getting somewhere ish… finishing P17 loosing a heap of positions off the start and still just performing like a bit of a dud. Had a good look at data over night, found a fair bit to work on for Sunday!

Heat 3- Not great. Off to a terrible start straight out the gate. A kart spun infront of Joel, and just tagged the rear bar of the kart and ripped it out. Causing the kart to just be terrible. And just fell to the back straight away. Pulling in only 3 laps in.

Final- Once again didn’t get off to a good start. Kart wouldn’t start on the grid. Meaning Joel had to start from the back, P26… but finally figured out how to drive the kart and track. And drove it back to P17. Still not great but it’s something.

Definitely not the weekend we were hoping for. But it’s how it goes sometimes with racing. A huge thank you to the people that continue to support us!! ⬇️⬇️

‼️CHKC revival ‼️

Marcus headed up to Smithton this past weekend for the revival of the Smithton kart club. After closing for some time.

After practice pace was looking okay in P3 just a bit off pace. But still up the pointy end of the field.

Qualifying- P3 overall, P2 in class (Tag R heavy) around 6 tenths off heavy pole. Still looking good in class though!

Heat 1- P1 over all, only dry race the whole day. Marcus made his way out front and stayed there. Clean race and good start to the racing.

Heat 2- P1 overall, back on wets again. Starting off pole for this heat. Marcus kept his cool and kept it out front. Also adding on with the fastest lap of the field. Things are looking good so far!!

Heat 3- P1 overall, same sort of story with starting on pole and keeping it there for the race. Coming home with the win and fastest lap once again.

Final- with around 5 minutes to go before the final the LKS crew had a glance at the pads on the Kart and they were on metal!! With a speedy change of the pads they got Marcus to the grid just in time. And same story again. Starting off pole Marcus kept his cool and got the win. No fastest this time but got the clean sweep!! Very well done to the elder 🧓

Huge thank you to the people that make this happened and that helped throughout the weekend ⬇️⬇️

Phil goss memorial ‼️‼️

The boys headed into Launceston for a weekends worth of racing! Was a pretty rough weekend from Joel’s side but a solid weekend for Marcus!!

(Joel Howe KA3 snr light)

Heat 1 - DNF drying track and dropped it mid race putting it into the tyres…

Heat 2 - P7 same sort of thing. Dropped a wheel in the wet grass on the last lap dropping to the back.

Heat 3 - P5 still driving a bit rough. Struggling for pace but kept it on track.

Final - P1 🥇 with a bit of luck and some better pace and FINALLY some good driving Joel come through with the win! First of many hopefully.

(Marcus Tag R heavy)

Heat 1 - bit of struggles with the drying track. Finished P4 but still had some strong pace.

Heat 2 - P1 🥇 tracked dried up, pace was strong and drove well.

Heat 3 - P1 🥇 same story again. Fasted kart on track and got the win.

Final - P1 🥇 once again had very strong pace. And come through with the win. Was a very strong weekend for Marcus.

Huge thank you to the people that make all of this happen!

💥2024 tassie state titles💥

(Joel KA3 Snr medium)

Practice- Started off very strong with a P6 in practice 2 and slowing off after that, loosing our way a bit with kart set up.

Qualifying- Very strong qualifying coming home the line P8, only .158 off pole!!

Heat 1- A bit of a tricky heat for Joel with wet/dry conditions and karts going everywhere the entire heat. Coming across the line P14. But still a positive with top 5 pace.

Heat 2- Rough start to the heat dropping down to P11 but moving back up into P9 before another driver cutting Joel’s race short. DNF…

Heat 3- coming out of P17 the weekend just got a lot harder. Still with some strong pace Joel made his way up to P9 once again before being taken out and put to last. Another bad finish P19…

Final- Very hard pill to swallow. P20 on the grid for the final. Still having strong pace it was very frustrating way to end the weekend coming across the line P12. Still a big positive of having top 5 pace majority of the weekend.

(Marcus Tag restricted heavy)

Practice- Strong pace in practice being in the top 2 the whole of practice.

Qualifying- Good place for qualifying in P3 and very close times.

Heat 1- Good race coming home P3 with some very close racing and strong pace. Just need to make up some time in the first few laps.

Heat 2- P3 once again doing near on identical times to the driver ahead therefore not being able to make time on the driver ahead.

Heat 3- Starting off strong with a close battle for P2 before getting pushed off track and dropped to P5 moving back into P4 with some strong pace as a positive.

Final- Good start to the final having some very strong pace after driving a bit rough at the start catching back up to second place and passing second place. Coming home with P2!!! Nearly defending the title, happy to come home with P2. Before getting dropped to P4 without any fair reason that we agree with. Very hard pill to swallow, but we move onto 2025!!

KA3 dash for cash…

(Joel KA3 snr)

Massively up and down weekend for Joel at Burnie. Had some strong pace but luck was not on his side.

Saturday practice: Really strong pace all day straight out of the van. Good day heading into race day Sunday.

Practice: Wet practice, fastest of the session good signs.

Heat 1: Decent pace in the first heat still wet, just getting caught up in traffic not being able to capitalise on the pace. Didn’t matter anyway… coming in under weight by 200g.

Heat 2: Good heat. Crossing the line P3 with some solid pace, minor changes going into the 3rd heat.

Heat 3: Starting P4 looking to push through to lead, Joel got a bit keen on getting through and had a tussle with another driver ending up with a 10 second penalty dropping from 4th to 6th. Not too bad just still hurting points.

Heat 4: This was a gut wrenching one. Starting from P13 and moving up into the top 8 group and had some very strong pace, a driver spun and rolled back into Joel leaving him nowhere to go. Also ending his race right there. Point are not looking good now.

Final: Starting from P5 on thr grid it was going to be a luck race. It wasn’t looking good how ever. From the heat before Joel’s axle got heavily bent. Meaning a massive vibration through the entire kart. The pace wasn’t strong but just had to hold out for the yellow flag. After the the yellow flag the top 3 started to battle hard. Closing the gap down. With only 2 laps to go Joel made a double over take for second place. Ending up finishing second across the line. But once in the weigh bridge Joel was informed that that driver ahead never had their transponder on giving joel the win! Good way to end a scrappy weekend of hard luck.

(Marcus Tag R medium)

Saturday practice: Pace also looked strong for Marcus all of Saturday. Not changing the kart only tire pressures.

Qualifying: Good qualifying coming out with second place only .157 off pole. Good start.

Heat 1: Kart was terrible in the wet/dry conditions. Pace was bad but still managed to hold into P3.

Heat 2: Pace looking better holding onto second in class only 4 tenths off fasted time. Slowly improving.

Heat 3: Same story as heat 2. P2 in class 4 tenths off the leader. Things are looking good and not too busy on track.

Final: Same same again. P2 too on track 3rd close behind. Just need to improve on the consistency. Things are looking good for the black plate. Small things to improve on but good weekend over all.

Huge thank you to all the people that make this happen ⬇️

‼️City of Melbourne titles‼️

A bit of a late post but here it is!

(Joel KA3 Snr medium)

Friday practice- really fun and overwhelming day for Joel as it was his first time at a national level race meeting and first time on the track but showed some decent pace by the end of Friday.

Qualifying- Struggled with kart set up and overdriving in the session starting P15

Heat 1- Nerves were very high for Joel for the same reason as Friday practice but he kept himself calm for a strong finish in P12. With some strong pace only 7 tenths off the leaders.

Heat 2- Starting out of P15 once again looking to get through clean, and that’s what Joel did keeping out of trouble at the start moving into P8! Then later on the in the race up into P6, and on the tail of P5 and faster than P5. The driver in P5 started defending and holding up Joel and the whole group behind. But still finishing P6 and 5 tenths off the leaders. Very positive end to the Saturday 💪

Heat 3- Cold start to the morning and not knowing what to do with kart set up it was a big guess and just ended up checking wheel alignment and upping the tire pressures and hoping for the best but it didn’t go our way with the kart being very hard to drive and struggled for pace ending in P12. But still getting closer to the leaders only 4 tenths now!

Final- Changed the set up for the final but still didn’t get it quite right and didn’t have the strong pace Joel showed Friday finishing up in P12 once again. But all in all a very solid weekend for Joel. His first time on the mainland and with some very good drivers in his class.

( Marcus TaG 125 rest medium)

Friday was a bit of a struggle for the ole man and same for the entire weekend 😞 injuring his knee on Friday stumped his progress and also being 10kgs over didn’t help.

Qualifying- Ending up in the last grid it was just hoping for the best in the heats.

Heat 1- Marcus got caught up in a turn one incident leaving his well at the back just using the session as a test and was only cruising around ending up second to last of the runners.

Heat 2- Had a good tussle with the bottom 3 drivers for around 6 laps but kart fell off and so did the pace ending last of the runners.

Heat 3- Marcus really only going to enjoy the track and the knee really making itself evident now it was a struggle. Pulling in 8 laps early and calling the weekend off there. Still enjoyed running at Todd road and experiencing a big race meeting.

Bec Wyatt memorial…

Both the boys headed to Launceston for one of the most special and meaningful race meetings of the year.

Practice: Pace was pretty bad in practice, hoping this could change with a bit of set up change and some new tyres…

Heat 1: Without any qualifying for the feature classes it was a random grid and starting second to last, P17 yikes… Joel worked hard and moved his way up into P9 for a solid finish. Still a little bit off the top 5 pace.

Heat 2: This time starting off the front row out of P2 hunting for the win. Joel couldn’t make it happen though, still a fair way off the pace. Finishing P5. After looking at some data that might the boys found the problem and where the pace was. Onto Sunday!

Heat 3: After changing the kart set up with wheel alignment and rear track set up hopes where high for a strong finish. Out of P11 on the grid it would be a lot of work for a good finish. Not getting the best start Joel dropped down to P14 making it even harder for himself! But he drove his way into a P9 finish.

Final: Starting from P7 on the grid Joel was hunting for a podium finish at best or a top 5 would still be great! After being in 4th for about half the race Joel started making small mistakes and the kart going off Joel dropped down to P6. High hopes for the Bec Wyatt memorial.

Bec Wyatt memorial: Starting from P6 and the fast drivers behind Joel he was hoping to get to the front and defend from there 😉 but that did not happen. Before hand making a silly set up mistake Joel had the same problem as Saturday slowing the kart down a lot. And also running into a problem after another driver went off and laid wood chips across the track running off very nearly into the wall. Still managed a P10 finish happy with that but still also disappointed.

(Marcus Tag R medium)
With only 2 drivers in the class and missing the most of Saturday not much to write home about. But pace was very strong over the weekend more using it as a test weekend and learning. Good weekend for the old man 😉

Next we head over to the big island for the city of Melbourne titles in a months time! If you would like to help us race and have your name go around Australia don’t hesitate to send us an email or message! There plenty of room on the karts and van 💪
