Sawtell Swimming Club Community A community sports club for people that love swimming and all the benefits it brings participants

Sawtell Swimming Club Inc is a community sports club for people that love swimming and all the benefits it brings participants. We aim to create a fun, friendly atmosphere where kids can have a great time with friends and achieve their best in the sport. From our informal club nights featuring many laughs, a BBQ and the occasional bush turkey chase to State and National swimming competitions Sawte

ll Swimming Club is there to support our members. Club Nights are held every Wednesday starting from 4 October 2023 through to late March. All abilities are catered for with heats being seeded based on times and a point score system based not on winning races but improving personal times. Club nights start with a fun swim/warm up from 5:30pm with the first race starting at 6pm. We usually run 4 races based on a schedule that offers variety between events and distances based on grades. When time permits we finish with a relay race before concluding the night at 7:30pm. Sawtell Swimming Club is a member of Swimming North Coast and is affiliated with Swimming NSW. We encourage our swimmers to participate in carnivals held in the region throughout the year but this is entirely optional for families. We start the season with two free trial nights, 4 and 11 October 2023, and would love you to join us. Feel free to turn up on the night or for more information call Paul Stevens on 0458 585 080, email us or reach out to us through this page. President: Paul Stevens, Mob:0458 585 080

Yesterday Jago and Kobi competed at the Forster qualifying meet. Both swimmers hit solid PB times in most of their events and Kobi took home a swag of medals.

The event was perfect training for SNC short course area champs to be held in Grafton on 20 and 21st June. Entries to area champs closes 13th June.

Congratulations to Frankie and Storm for their amazing results at the 2026 NSW PSSA Championships held at SOPAC yesterday. Both smashing the MC events, both through to all schools nationals, both huge PB's in every race.

Storm got silver in the 50m fly and bronze in 12yr girls freestyle, Frankie took the bronze in the 11yr 50m freestyle.

Well done!

What a great finish to the season with our 2026 Club Championships held yesterday. Our swimmers dug deep to use all their energy and drive with lots of races across just over 4 hours.

We would like to thank the officials for the day Jo Hodgson, Janelle Barnett, Hugh Goddard and Cate Rutherford. These wonderful people generously donate their time and energy to allow these great events to go ahead.

Our club's commitment to keeping our sport affordable while supporting swimmers as best we can is only possible thanks to our amazing sponsors. Our delicious BBQ was everyones Wednesday night dinner thanks to Butchers Hook Toormina, K'pane Artisan Bakery and Bakers Delight. Sawtell Cinema helped us reward our swimmers for achieving their best. Sawtell RSL Club, Level Projects and McGrath Coffs Coast provided financial support that allowed us to assist our representative swimmers, keep our fees as low as possible and invest in a new fridge and freezer that the club will benefit from for years to come. Coffs Coast Formwork helped us make the first Sawtell Cup a success and bought everyone at champs pizza at the end of the day. Please support these businesses and if you get a chance, thank them for their support.

It has been an incredible season that saw another year of huge growth in membership and participation in our club nights, as well as area and championship carnivals. We loved having so many families join our swimming community. Thank you to everyone that supported our efforts to keep our pool open and we thank in advance all the councillors that will support keeping this great asset open to the community and our club.

Our competitive swimmers will keep going and we wish them the best of luck in their school state carnivals coming up shortly as well as the upcoming short course competitions. We look forward to seeing everyone back together again in October.

Congratulations Jasmine on a great race and PB today in the 50m butterfly at the Swimming NSW Junior State Championship held at SOPAC this weekend. Good luck tomorrow in your 50m backstroke. Qualifying for this high level of competition is a great achievement.

Good luck also to our swimmers taking part in the Coffs Coast Ocean Swim being held tomorrow.

Congratulations to our team that competed so well at the NSW long course Country Championships held at SOPAC on the weekend. The championship includes the best NSW swimmers outside of metropolitan Sydney.

This year we sent our biggest team in years with great efforts from all our 9 swimmers with plenty of pb's and a few state times. A special mention goes to Kobi for his stand out performances of 2nd 50m & 100m free, 3rd 50m breast, 4th 50m fly & back, 9th 200m free (1st 9yr old).

Well done to all of our swimmers that did a great job to qualify for this high level of competition.

A big thank you also to coaches Eugene and Kim for making the big journey to Sydney and supporting our swimmers at this meet.

Today we had a great day swimming at the newly refurbished Bellingen pool.

Lots of pb's, placings and even a few country championship times. The day finished with the running of the Tim Mullens memorial trophy, awarded to the fastest freestyle relay team comprising 3 boys and 3 girls. Sawtell won the trophy with our B and C team taking out 3rd and 4th place.

Congratulations also goes to carnival age champions August, Hugh, Mackenzie, Jasmine and Cohen.

Thank you Bellingen Swim Club for hosting a great event once again, we look forward to coming back next year.

The current proposed plan to shut down Sawtell Pool forever and replace it with a zero depth splash pad at an estimated cost of $5M does not benefit the community. For more details drop in to the pool tomorrow between 10am to 2pm or see council's website.

I know our pools matter to a lot of people and many in the community are keen to share their thoughts on the Draft Aquatic Strategy.

This is a consultant-prepared draft outlining possible future directions for our aquatic facilities. No final decisions have been made.

So now is the time for the community to review it and provide feedback. The best way to make sure your voice is heard is to complete the survey or lodge a submission by Sunday 25 January 2026.

If you have questions, there are drop-in sessions coming up this week where a project team member will be available to chat.

I encourage everyone interested to take part, as participation through proper channels will ensure your voices are heard. This meaningful input through the consultation process is how Councillors can move forward to shape good outcomes for our community.

What a fantastic Christmas party and farewell to the year for swim club!

It was so much fun to finally get a white Christmas in Sawtell thanks to our new snow machine. Beth and her team served up a Christmas feast with over 100 chicken schnitzel burgers, a heap of sausage sandwiches, zooper doopers and drinks.

Action in the pool was also incredible with so many relays including our epic parent v kid battles. Our score count had this year at a 2 all draw. The kids keep getting bigger and faster but the parent team includes some former elite athletes that stayed on the bench so future contests should be close for a little while yet.

Thanks Santa for delivering lolly bags and Sawtell Cinema coupons for all the kids.

To all our members, friends and supporters, have a fantastic Christmas and holiday period. We will return to our club night program on Wednesday 14th January.

We all know how ridiculous it would be to replace Sawtell Swimming Pool with a zero depth splash pad but councils draft aquatic strategy recommends just that. It is vital that everyone has their say during the public consultation process. Please follow the link below:
