🌟Congratulations Rebecca Van Asch
Congratulations to Rebecca Van Asch who has been appointed as Bowls Australia’s Acting Performance Director until further notice, following the resignation of Garry Willis, who was Bowls Australia’s Performance Director and National Coach.
🌟Australian Indoor Championships
Congratulations to Port Sorell’s Codi Marshall and South Burnie’s Glenda Fielding, who represented Tasmania at the Australian Indoor Singles Championships, which were held at Club Tweed in New South Wales from 10 – 13 August 2026.
In the knock-out Men’s event, second-seed Codi Marshall won his first two matches but was narrowly defeated in the quarterfinals 7-8 and 6-8 by St. John’s Park’s Travis Moran, the event’s runner-up, and was eliminated
In the knock-out Women’s event, Glenda Fielding was defeated in the first round and was eliminated.
🌟National Bowling Arm Championships
Good luck to all our arm bowlers who will be representing Tasmania at the 12th National Bowling Arm Championships at Club Tweed from 7 – 11 September 2026.
The Tasmanian team in alphabetical order is Sally Archer, Geoff Buchanan, Paul Bugg, John Burley, Chook Downie, Ian Gilbert, Peter Kemp, Charkes (Bill) Mottershead, Rod O'Halloran, Noel Purton, Noelene Purton (Team Manager), Joe Reissig, Les Reynolds, Michael Shingles, David Sims, Peter Thow (Coach), Robert Webb and Doreen White.
🌟BPL Cup State Finals
Twenty-two teams have qualified for the State finals of the BPL Cup, which is a record high for Bowls Tasmania – compared to sixteen teams in 2025. Regional finals will now be required and will be played at Longford and Howrah on Sunday 13 September 2026, with the State Final being played at Howrah on Sunday 27 September 2026.
Regional finals will consist of:
Longford: 3 sections (2 sections of 3 teams and 1 section of 4 teams).
Howrah: 3 sections of 4 teams.
The winner of each section will qualify for the State Final, which will consist of 2 sections of 3 teams, followed by a grand final to determine the winner. The grand final will be live-streamed on Bowls Tasmania’s YouTube channel.
