Congratulations Jess & Alex!

The 2026 UniSport National Athletics Championships were held on the Gold Coast last week, with our Tasmanian athletes proudly taking on the nation's best 💪

Well done to everyone who competed, and a special congratulations to our medalists:

🥇 Alex Hanigan - Gold in the 800m & 1500m
🥉 Jessica Smith - Bronze in the 1500m

Update on the last couple of days of nationals.

On Sunday Pia, Luke & Ashton ran brave races in the U/20 1500 heats but their competitors were just too speedy.

Violet, Ava & Jake all made it through to their respective finals.

Monday finals;
Jake U/15 800 5th
Ava U/16 800 2nd
Violet U/20 1500 9th
Fantastic results. Violet stepped up & ran in the U/20 age group these Champs and this provided some valuable experience for the future. These were the most competitive U/20 fields ever and it was exciting to be a part of history. Well done Violet on giving it everything you had and to run a 4.27, 1500m on day 4 of racing is very impressive!
