Last Friday the weather cooled down just in time for our first meet back after the Christmas/New Year break. This week we were joined by athletes from Para Athletics Centre. Energy was high as our athletes shook the cobwebs off on the runways and field! Athletes enjoyed some friendly competition, working hard and were rewarded for their efforts, earning 121 new PB’s.

Congratulations to Lana (8F) who achieved 4 out of 4 PB’s this week and congratulations to Jackson (9M) who achieved 5 out of 5 PB’s. Outstanding effort!

Congratulations to Logoh Tligi, winning the Open Men category in the Athletics SA 2024-25 State Combined Event Championships over the weekend. He won the decathon with a total of 6437 points participating in events over Saturday and Sunday.

This is back-to-back titles for Logoh, winning the State Decathlon two years running. Well done! 💙💛

🛫 We hope you all had a very merry Jet-mas and a flying good start to the new year! We are so excited to be back and soaring into the second half of our athletics season.

🔥 If you thought a half time break meant we’re now on the downhill run to the end of the season, you’re in for a surprise. Things are still very much still heating up!

😎 To help everyone ease back into the second part of the season, this week we are running our Summer Shakedown program, a slighter shorter event program. In a bid to escape a bit more of the heat, we will be starting at the delayed time of 6:45pm. (Setup crews, please report from 5:15pm.) We’ll also be joined by guests from Munno Para Athletics Centre

💥 The year has gone out with a bang with a MASSIVE December for the NDAC Jets!

🏟️ Earlier in December the 2025 Australian All Schools Athletics Championships held in Melbourne. Congratulations to all those athletes who took part in this event which was also combined with the Australian Athletics Schools Challenge.

NDAC had 3 athletes travel to Melbourne for the two events. Competing in pole vault at All Schools, Jasmine P cleared 3.05m, a new PB, and took home silver in her age group! Kelechi E and Liam G competed at the Schools Challenge, both running in the 100m. Kelechi also competed in the 200m and shot put, while Liam did long jump. Both had some great efforts across their events. Big thanks to the coaches and those who supported the athletes in getting them to the event.

🤝 Despite the busyness of December, the NDAC Jets Little Athletes had a strong showing at the Little Athletics State Relay Championships with teams across most age groups in the competition. We were so impressed by the efforts from all athletes to make it to their events in a timely manner and in supporting their team mates. The camaraderie amongst our athletes was outstanding!

A highlight was the Christmas March Past featuring 'Gingy': our 5 metre tall gingerbread man. Thanks to all the families who brought their Christmas cheer!

We think we may have set a record for 4th place finishes for the relays. There were so many efforts that almost made it to the podium: U10B Field, U11B 4x100 and Field, U11G Field and U16B Field.

Congratulations to our Under 15 Boys Jack and Beau taking gold in the field relay!

Thanks also to our amazing Mums and Dads who 'jumped the fence' and joined us for a run - you're all champions!

🎄🏆 The NDAC Recreational Runners hosted the annual Christmas Cup. It was an amazing evening even if it was a bit warm! Reports are the event was a hit with the special challenges being enjoyed by all. Well done to our teams - Chris Kringles, Lyn's Reindeer Runners, Kat's Christmas Crackers and Ruth's Sleigh the Distance. There could only be one winner and congratulations goes to Chris Kringles! The event also saw the inaugural awarding of our new RR parkrun and Coopers awards.

🏖️ Rounding off December was the 139th Bay Sheffield Carnival held at Glenelg.

Also, after a grueling 3 races, Joel Cedric Ebomo Zoalang took our first place honors in the 70m mens race final. Congratulations Joel! Amazing!

Saturday just gone was Athletics South Australia State Relay Day and we saw some sensational performances by the Northern Districts Jets senior athletes. Our athlete numbers were up on last year with 49 of our athletes competing over 41 last year. Our team again included a mix of senior athletes competing alongside our Recreational Runners and Social Aths athletes - a real OneClub effort!

There were more medals than we have seen in recent years and also more of our athletes standing on the top level of the podium. Woohoo!

We had athletes on the start line in 36 events across 30 track relays and 6 field relays. Amazingly 26 of our 36 teams ended up on the podium with a bag of 14 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze. Take a bow Jets! 💙💛

Multiple club records were broken or set on the day. More will be reported on this as the results are analysed, absorbed and ratified.

Shout outs to our Open & O35 Men’s and also our Women’s Field teams who took 1st place, as did our U18 Men who took gold in the 4x100, 4x200 & Swedish track relays. (A little birdie tells me that our U18 Men will now hold both the club U18 and Open 4x200m record!)

Our U18 Women field team finished 2nd. The O35 and O50 Men’s and Women’s track teams had many 1st and 2nd places showing that age is only a number, well done!
Our Open Women’s track team was super-fast on the day finishing 2nd in both the 4x200m and Swedish Relays, both in club record times.

Not to be outdone our fast open Men took out the Swedish relay, our team A and B took out 2 & 3rd respectively in the 4x100m event, our A team was 2nd in the 4x200m and the 4x800m Men finished 3rd.

Oh and Hamish Green set a new PB of 1.95m in his High Jump.

The bar is set high for next year! 🛫😊

📢 In a strange turn of events, Little Athletics at Bridgestone Athletic Centre tomorrow is cancelled - not for thunderstorms, but due to heat! 🔥

The forecast temperature at 4:30pm in Salisbury tomorrow is 38º. In keeping with our Hot Weather Policy, the decision has been taken by the Junior Subcommittee to cancel Little Athletics: Home Meet #13. This decision is made in the interest of the safety of our setup crew, officials, volunteers and athletes.

💙💛 We can't wait to see those who are attending the State Relay Championships this Sunday. Make sure you check your email for final information regarding this event!
