πŸ€SUPPORTING OUR GREEN SHIRT REFEREESπŸ€

We are incredibly fortunate to currently have 7 trainee referees (green shirt/green whistle) learning the ropes within our association. πŸ‘

Just like the young players on the court who are developing their skills each week, our junior referees are also learning and will make mistakes along the way. That's all part of the development process.

These young referees are the future of our association. Without them progressing through the ranks, we would struggle to have enough qualified officials to support our older junior and senior competitions. Their growth and development are vital to the ongoing success of Sale Basketball.

🟒 A friendly reminder to all parents, spectators and coaches:
Please refrain from commenting on, questioning or challenging any decisions made by a referee wearing a green shirt and/or green whistle.

If you have a question or concern during a game, please seek assistance from:
🟑 A Referee Supervisor (yellow vest)
πŸ‘• An adult referee
🀝 A committee member
🏟️ Front counter staff

Our young referees deserve a safe, supportive and respectful environment where they can learn, build confidence and develop their skills.

Thank you for helping us support the next generation of officials. ❀️🀍

πŸ€β€οΈ UNDER 16/19 GIRLS COMPETITION UPDATE β€οΈπŸ€

Please be advised that from Wednesday 10th June, the Under 16/19 Girls competition will move from five teams to four teams.

Unfortunately, due to a combination of injuries and ongoing player unavailability, this change is necessary to ensure we can continue to provide a balanced and competitive competition for all players.

Updated team allocations will take effect from next week's games.

πŸ“§ A reminder to all families: If your child is unable to attend a game, please notify us as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]. Early notice helps us manage teams and game scheduling effectively.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation as we work to provide the best possible experience for our players.

πŸ€πŸ‘ Congratulations Amy Armstrong! πŸ‘πŸ€

A huge congratulations to Amy Armstrong on being invited to officiate at the 2026 National Junior Classic this weekend.

The National Junior Classic showcases the strongest junior basketball teams and players from across Australia, with participants earning qualification or invitation to compete at this prestigious event.

Being selected as an official is a fantastic achievement and recognition of Amy's hard work, dedication, and commitment to developing her refereeing career. Amy's selection places her alongside some of the country's most promising technical officials and is a wonderful reflection of the pathways available through our local referee program.

We are incredibly proud to see one of our own representing Sale Basketball on the national stage and wish Amy all the very best for the tournament.

πŸŸ₯🟩⬜ Well done Amy! ⬜🟩πŸŸ₯

πŸ€β€οΈ UNIFORM REMINDER β€οΈπŸ€

A reminder to all players and families that the correct uniform for domestic basketball is:

βœ… Black basketball shorts
❌ No pockets
❌ No football shorts
❌ No Nike Pro/compression shorts worn on their own
❌ Undergarments need to be compression, not t-shirts

This is both a safety requirement and part of our uniform standards across the competition.

Once we reach Round 7 and moving forward action may be taken if players are not in the correct uniform.

Please also remember that your playing top is a borrowed item and needs to be looked after carefully for future players who will wear them. Jerseys are not easily replaced, so we appreciate everyone helping us take care of them β€οΈπŸ€

Please ensure players arrive ready to play each week to avoid delays or issues before games πŸ‘Œ

Thank you for your cooperation and support β€οΈπŸ€
