If you’re not lifting weights, you’re leaving results on the table.

Weights don’t make you bulky — they make you tight, toned, and strong. They boost your metabolism, help burn fat faster, and shape your body in ways cardio never will.

As we get older, strength training isn’t optional — it’s essential for maintaining muscle, supporting hormones, and keeping your body firm and defined.

Less endless cardio. More intention. Lift and change your body for real.

Your squishy shoes are ruining your strength progress.

Running shoes, the ones most people wear to the gym, are made to be forgiving and "cushion" your impact on the ground as you hit it over and over again.

Whether they are actually great at that job or not 🤔 is a topic for another day 🤣

But when you are looking to get stronger and build your body, so often the feet get forgotten?

But it's well known that squatting and deadlifting in flat shoes, without cushion is much better than wearing runners.

You just waste energy and are less stable in sneakers that have a soft cushiony sole.

There are 26 bones in the human foot and 20 muscles and your regular running shoes actually weaken them 🤯

And a weak foot, your connection to the ground often means weaknesses develop further up the chain. In fact ankle, knee, hip and even the shoulder issues can often be traced back to the feet.

So getting out of those shoes and training barefoot is a great way to start strengthening those muscles... Or, if that's not quite your thing buying a pair of barefoot shoes like Xero Or Vibrams.

Then adding in more single Leg work without shoes and you start to really discover the benefits of avoiding your typical running shoe.

Once your feet start to get stronger you start to notice other things improving, odd pains vanishing and your body "feeling" more mobile and stable.

If you'd like more info chat to us and we can show you how to integrate this safely into your program next time your in the gym.

Our Seniors Strength Sessions start next Tuesday 21st April at 10am. Will also run in Thursday at the same time.

Strength training is highly beneficial for seniors, offering a proactive approach to maintaining independence, health, and vitality. This infographic highlights several key reasons why incorporating strength training into a routine is crucial after age 50, including:

Physical Strength and Structure: It helps combat age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) and supports joint health, while also increasing bone density to reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Daily Function and Safety: Regular training enhances functional independence, making daily tasks easier, and significantly improves balance and coordination to decrease the risk of falls and injuries.

Disease Prevention and Overall Health: It can boost your metabolism to help manage weight and lower the risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.

Mental Well-being: Strength training has been shown to improve mood and cognitive function, helping to reduce anxiety and sharpen memory.
