3 Rules for strength coaches & personal trainer π
1) Form over dazzel π
For years in the corporate gyms I've seen many trainers both In a group setting and 1 on 1 make clients do some gimiky sh*t.
Like some kind of squat press to pushup to sn**ch thingi.
I get tailoring exercises for that neash athlete but since most personal training clients are beginners to intermediates keep the basics. A squat is a squat it can be modified but if your client isn't hitting depth don't do the gimiky stuff. Focus on improving form with things like box squat ect...
Unless
2) Progressive overload π
One of the most important rules to strengthen and build muscle. Now there's different ways to this: making the weights heavier, increasing the eccentric tempo ect. Again I've seen trainers not push their clients hard enough. Their should be a balance and there are some exceptions. With certain exercises I like to use the R.I.R system (reps in reserve)
3) PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH π
Early in my career I have been guilty of this π’
I might do a different routine than my clients or train more or less intense but I still do the same movements, the squat, chest press, lunges ect..
IF YOU DON'T DO BURPEES DONT MAKE YOU CLIENTS DO IT! π‘
