It's okay to struggle and not be good at things..

Don't put things off because you're going to be a beginner because that is literally where every great journey starts.

In fact, in many ways, being a beginner is exciting.. That anxious feeling, the adrenaline and most of all, how fast beginners progress.

The best and most rapid progress you will ever make in transforming your body is when you are just starting out.

Do you remember when you felt unbreakable?

You know? Back when you were at school and in your 20's.

When you would take any everything with minimal sleep, hungover and your diet was far from perfect.

And you probably did really well?

Then you hit your 30s and you start to notice that waistline creep and your more tired than usual. Perhaps you've stopped exercising completely at this point trying to juggle the new repsonsibilities of Parenthood, work and generally "Adulting"

Now you're in your 40s? Your kids are getting active, you're running them around and trying to run around WITH them...

You go really hard, eating salads and chicken at every meal and exercising like crazy... Then you quit?

You may have done a few "Diets" and exercise programs in the past and you probably lost weight with them?

The real questions to ask right now though are:- Did the results stick? Are you happy with how you look and feel? Are you carrying more weight around than you would like?

Its great to go hard and see fast results but its really frustrating when you realise soon after that you're back where you started.

This is possibly a cycle you have repeated over and over again?

Then you realise that you're getting older, menopause is in the picture now, your body is changing and you don't have the same time (or energy) to do things like that anymore anyway?

Now I won't BS any body that transforming the body can happen without work. But it doesn't have to be a brutal beatdown each and every day and eating like a rabbit.

You can enjoy the foods you like, in fact last weeks Group challenge for my team was to make sure that every day they had something special in their daily food plan that they could "Fit In"

And exercise Should Build you up, not beat you down. Have you leave the workout with a smile on your face (and some sweat on your brow)

Do you dread jumping on the scales on a monday morning?

Its like you just know you have gained weight but you can't help yourself.

You feel really frsutrated that you ruined all your progress last week? You just want to lose a few kilos and fit back into your favourite pants.

What you really need is a plan that makes the weekends easier and gives you back that feeling of control?

SOOOOOO. First lets drop the idea of "Perfect" eating. Its great to have prepped all your meals, stick to your plan without wavering at all during the week when its structured and routine.

But this usually means you have these little voices throughout the week that are easier to ignore that come out screaming on the weekend? And now you don't have your routine to lean against.

So its better to allow some things to come in through the week, things that you account for, like a bowl of chips with your lunch instead of a salad or a couple of biscuits with your tea.

The more you learn to account for your choices rather than following strict rules through the week makes it much easier to just do the same o the weekend.

Which bring up the next point, stop creating so many rules for yourself. You don't have to fast, cut out carbs, fats, cheese or anything else. In fact for your plan to be sustainable you need to know you can follow it long term, just with stricter periods if you want to drop a few kilos.

Also, don't tell yourself you're having a "Cheat" day. This implies you're being naughty and shouldn't be doing it and its easy just to say "f**k it, I'll just start again...." whenever.

It's better to plan your weekend if possible and account for the foods you want to enjoy. Sure it might not be anything like your Meat and Vegetable, weekly prepped meals. But your aware of this and accountable.

Finally, One bad meal isn't the end of the world. You don't have to write off a whole day because you enjoyed a meal that wasn't planned. Just continue on with what you would normally do. You don't have to turn it into a buffet.

Hunger- Its Not Always a Sign to eat!

I have had a question come up 4 times in the last 2 days (Over the weekend) so i figured i would address it here for everyone in the group.

From a Weight loss perspective you have to be prepared to "Deal with" and ignore hunger from time to time. Your goal if you're trying to lose weight is to create a calorie deficit, which in and of itself means your body is going to be Hungry.

There is no nice way of saying this, So, You have to suck it up and chew some gum or distract yourself from eating in some other way.

Hunger is also the only way our bodies can signal to us that we NEED something. Things like vitamins and minerals we garner from eating foods create deficiencies and our body will lat us know we need this by telling us to eat something with that substance in it.

This is often where things go a little awry though as most people have the learned behaviour of snacking to quell any sign of hunger. So when the body says "I need something in Strawberries" he reach for flavoured candies that "taste" like strawberry but offer no nutrional benefit. So the cycle continues.

This is where I believe Intermittant Fasting (IF) has the most benefits. Teaching us its ok to go periods without food and learn to manage our hunger cravings better.

The TL;DR here is We aren't meant to snack 24/7. Hunger is perfectly normal and you shouldn't grab something at the first sign of it. You're not going to die if you go a few hours without food and if you don't feel like a full meal, you're probably NOT actually Hungry.

Meet Arna She has such a great story for all the mums out there, struggling to prioritise their health, so I'll let her share her story:-

"I chose Steves Coaching as he had shown fast results, and in my mind set I needed some fast work. My doctor had given me a script for tablets due to depression. So I didn't get the tablets, I walk into Steve at Be Strong and asked Steve for help. He told me that I had to be 100% committed for the program to work. So it made me more determined to get the best out of it.

So as for me, It had been 11years since I had been to a gym. So the first few weeks were so physically hard. The meal plan was such a shock, to find out how much more I would have to eat. Each time I made it through a training session, I felt stronger and said to myself ‘If you survived that you can keep going’.

The support from Steve was a big part, as he only could see the best in me when I didn't.He adjusted training to suit my level daily, this helped with feeling as though I was constantly achieving. I have to add that at times other members at the gym or the online group would lend their supportive words of encouragement, that got me through. It made me feel very comfortable to train in this environment.

Steve and I need to mention Holly as well who has created such a family friendly gym.

This helped me on the program so much as I am a mother with 5 children. To be able to take them to training when I needed to was fantastic. The twelve weeks went so fast, with all the training, eating and Lifestyle Homework.

So after all the hard work doing all of what was asked of me, Steve showed me my results, with the last 12 weeks of weights and measurements. I cried, and at that moment I knew it had worked for me.

Depression was a thing of the past. Here now standing there was a stronger, much lighter and happier version of myself. I love the strength it has given my mind body and soul.

My family is so impressed with my success. When I saw my before and after photo it showed me it had worked.

Amazing is the way it has left me.
