This might just be a deadlift to you but it means more to us than that.
Only a few weeks ago, Matty walked through the doors to ask about gym membership. After a lengthy conversation that I personally will never forget, he asked “do you allow someone with a disability to train here?” My response “we are all equal here, no discrepancies and this is a safe space” . He then went onto say he had cerebral palsy, which to be honest, I had not even noticed.
Peter Robinson has taken this incredible man under his wing and is training him once per week. We have noticed such a difference in such a short space of time. Talking to Matty after this impressive PB of 165kg, he is now an advocate of exercise for both his strength and mental health. He has noticed that his posture is better, he is not stiff and tight, he is more positive, has more energy and is certainly more active. With his left side being affected, exercises need adapted but his squat, bench and deadlift are “off the chart”! As Peter says “of all the years training clients, he is one of the best”. And listen to the members cheering him on. 🥰
So as we say, there are NO excuses. Let us help you, reach out. Be like Matthew Hyde and don’t quit on yourself. There is ALWAYS a way.
