This is Dylan
Dylan has been with me for around 2 years now and it is crazy to think of how many things he has been able to accomplish with me in those 2 years! When Dylan first came to me he told me his goal was to “Lose Weight”! I was baffled and quickly taught Dylan that “Losing Weight” was the wrong approach for himself as he had already lost a lot of weight before joining the gym! And in doing so without the help of a PT he had lost a lot of a lot of muscle tone, my plan was to bring his weight back up BUT the right way! With this goal I also had to improve his mobility and posture because we needed to build muscle but without improving his mobility and posture we wouldn’t of been able to use the exercises needed to create a hypertrophic (muscle building) response! Lastly we went over his eating and what things we needed to improve for him to be making the most of his training! 2 years later with a lot of ups and downs he is doing so incredibly well, he amazes me every session as I often think back to the Dylan I first met and feel proud to have been about of his incredible journey!

“Life before PT was weighing roughly in the low 60kgs had no muscle tone, wasn’t eating enough and was eating the wrong foods. I got into pt to change this. I wanted someone to continually push me and press me to do better!For the last 2 years Ki has been my PT and with his help I’ve put on 10 healthy kilograms and most of that being muscle! When I first started PT with Ki I was unable to do most exercises due to my bad posture! Ki helped improve my posture so I could perform these exercises that were to dangerous for me to perform previously! I have recently been able to Squat 120kgs!! And Deadlift 130kgs!! I hope to improve upon these movements by continually pushing myself to do better every time I walk into the gym”

Meet Declan!!
Declan is 15 and has started his own clothing brand and runs that as well as school and going to the gym! crazy to think that he is 15! Declan has been training with me since the end of last year he is a great student in the lifting arena and has gained a lot of strength since we have started!!

Here is a new tip for your training regime! 💪🏽
Eccentric reps are a great way to get better at a specific exercise that you may be struggling with! It’s great for loading the relative muscle and feeling the muscles work as you move!
Try it out next time you are in the gym!

Hey guys Ki from iGym Salamander Bay here wanting to show you the new equipment that we have here on gym floor!
This is the newest cardio machine on the the ski erg machine!
Make sure that you set your settings on the style of workout that you want (ie single distance, single time, etc)
Aaaaaand make sure your resistance is where you need it to get an adequate resistance.
Finally make sure that you keep a strong torso position as you pull through with your body weight and arms through the motion 😁

Technique tip Tuesday ⭐️
I see a lot of people doing deadlifts in the gym and the bar travels too far away from them putting their bodies at risk!
One of the ways that we can correct this movement is by placing our feet in the right place we want to line our tone knuckles in line with the bar usually this will make the first lease on your shoe invisible but that is dependent on the 👞

Hey guys it’s Ki from iGym Salamander Bay and I wanted to share with you guys the new machine here at iGym! 🥰
This is the torso rotation and it works the oblique abs which are extremely important for stabilisation of the torso! 🤑
This is super important because without proper stabilisation of the torso you may be susceptible to lower back pain! 🥴
Key thing to note when doing this exercise is to avoid using momentum and your upper body! ❌
This is an ab exercise so really control through the oblique‘s and make sure you are doing this exercise correctly it is not an exercise you need to do heavy as we are just trying to strengthen the core. 🔥
I would recommend doing 20 reps per set and saving this exercise for the end of your sessions 😁
