Dear Tasmanian Tennis Community,
We are pleased to be able to provide you with the recommended Return to Play materials for Tennis.
Attached you will find:
· Return to play (Tasmania) v04 – the planned Return to Play Matrix which aligns with the three stages the State Government have announced. This framework provides an overview to the guidelines that recommend a safe return to play. Clubs and Coaches can interpret and apply to these guidelines to the full or reduced level. This includes:
o Recommended tennis activities
o Venue recommendations
o Team Tennis Competitions, Leagues and Tournaments
· Stage 1 Community Tennis Guidelines (Tasmania) – the guidelines here provide further detailed information on the implementation of Stage 1 recommendations.
· Checklist – this provides information in considering on what to work on. Not all points may be relevant for your club, however you can update and change to help guide through and
Over the next 24 hours, the Tennis Tasmania team will be in contact with you (the Presidents) directly over the phone to follow up on next steps and the path forward. We encourage you to continue the work many of you have started with your committees and coaches, and make contact with your Local Council (who will also be sent a copy of this information).
For those clubs, coaches and training environments, the first stage of tennis re-opening is scheduled to start from Monday 18 May (all of which continues to be subject to Public Health via the State Government). It is important to note that while we are hopeful of the ongoing easing of restrictions, we have to be prepared for the possibility of the Stages regressing if there were to be any outbreaks that compromise the health of the Tasmanian community at large.
With this in mind, we all (clubs, coaches, volunteers, staff, Councils, Government and Tennis Tasmania) have a role to play in remaining vigilant to ensure tennis can safely remain open. All groups should be aware that return to play is when you are ready and prepared to re-open. For some that will mean Monday 18 May and for others it may be later that week or the following week.
The team has spent a lot of time over the last few days preparing a range of support documents so you can ensure a duty of care to your club, its members and participants. It will also provide a record of good practice should you need to present these to any authorities in future. While these documents won't provide a one size fits all, we recognize that these will need ongoing review and updates, and we encourage you to ask us for any specific additional support materials that could assist you further.
During this time, please access the support of the Tennis Tasmania team to guide and support you safely re-opening for play. We will work with you in a pragmatic way and acknowledge that each of you will require different levels of support. We are also mindful that as this is unchartered territory for all of us, and that information and recommendations will change from time to time. However, we will keep you informed to ensure that we can all return to the sport we love and have missed for several weeks now.
