Unfortunately the weather decided to turn nasty for this day with very strong winds & periodic showers during the morning. The ladies did so well to complete 18-holes in the conditions they confronted.
There were 15 teams (including 2 representing the Valley) of 4 ladies playing from the following clubs: Bay Views, Beaconhills, Carrington Park, Centenary Park, Cerberus, Devilbend, Flinders, Moonah Links, Mornington, Mt Martha, Rosebud CC, Sandhurst & The Dunes.
It was a shotgun start at 8.30am and we Lori Hand on course taking photos plus Deb Sein also taking photos at presentations. Thanks to you both, see below.
It was fantastic to see the Valley ladies win our own Challenge Bowl for the 2nd year running, this time with different players. The winning team members were: Meg Russell-Stevenson, Lee Grubb, Milica Cole & Sharon De Haan with a score of 83 points. Meg & Lee were the best pair with 46 points, a super score in the conditions. Runners Up were the team from Mornington.
The NTP prizes were both won by players from Mt Martha - Pam Goldsworthy on the 4th hole & Susana Cane on the 12th hole.
The 1st team entered prize went to Cerberus & the random number draw winner was Janice Thomas from Mornington.
Ball Rundown (35 Points or Better) - Pam Goldsworthy & Barbara Birch (43), Gail Box & Julie Waters (41), Linda Winterborn & Pam Barr (39), Linda Denny & Trish Swales, Keeley Hille & Kate Farrar, Linda Orefice & Jenny Jeong, Gerri Robson & Cheryl Westcott (all 37) Sarah Thompson & Anne Betchley, Barbara Bright & Colleen Blackmore (36) Sue Caddie & Adrienne Fievez, Geraldine Wallace & Jenny Thorkildsen (35).
Raffle winners were: Barbara Birch (Mt Martha), Jo Murray (Moonah Links) Cora Shovelton (Beaconhills), Wendy Hayes (Devilbend), Judy Templin (Mt Martha) & Hang Phillips (Sandhurst). These ladies received a cyclamen plant or a bottle of wine with chocolates.
Thanks to all bar & kitchen staff, volunteers & Committee members for all the hard work leading up to & on the day. The ladies loved the lunch. Also thanks to the Social Committee, it was a very successful day for the club.
Special thanks to all the ground staff for preparing the course in such great condition for the day. We received lots of great feedback about the greens & course.
A big thanks also to Ian Bright who braved the awful weather to rake the bunkers for the ladies on the 16th & 18th holes.
Thanks to Rob Potter who produced the cards for the winners on the day.
