The Saddleworth Golf Club is open for business with the 2024 Winter Season in full swing.

The course is looking good with a power of work being done over the last few months.

The Fairways are hard ond fast as we are waiting for rain like everyone else in the Gilbert Valley. Also, most overhanging trees have been lopped which makes the fairawys and approach to the scapes appear even wider. The fairways are so fast that one of our more senior members putted an Eagle on a long Par 5 (Hole 5).

The Scrapes have been topped up and oiled, so they all have a reasonably consistent roll.

The Rough, yes, most of the dreaded Rough has been cleared that helped to find those wayward balls. There's been about 5 dozen balls rescued from the Golf Gods so if anyone needs some practice balls, we've got boxes of them.

There are a number of Special events coming up this season as it's been:
120 years since the club was formed.
10 years since the Sheep were removed.

Results from 10th of July.

We had 16 golfers out today to play in a Russian Stableford competition. The conditions were perfect for golf today! There were only 5 teams that participated. We welcomed 5 juniors that played today, including one from Balaklava that tore up the Junior competition. The match play semi finals were also played today.

Overall winners: Roger Coupar and Mark Hutchinson with 49 points
Runners up: Jake Heapy and Craig Sanford with 45 points
Junior Winner: Cameron C with a 95 nett 59!
N.A.G.A: Lenny Venning and Tricky with 35 points

Had 8 golfers play in a Stableford competition in cold, windy and rainy conditions. There was 1 match play match today. Mick Aworth vs Lenny Venning.

A grade winner: Tricky 30 points
B Grade winner: Mick Aworth 26 points
