“Last one,” they said… 😅

Every badminton player knows that phrase can mean many things… and sometimes it means the real training is just beginning. 🏸

Those extra shuttles?
Usually where tired legs become stronger, focus gets sharper, and resilience starts building.

At ABA, it’s often in those unexpected extra rounds where kids learn they’re capable of more than they thought.

Because progress doesn’t always happen when it’s easy…
Sometimes it happens right after “last one.” 💪

Be honest... how many times a game do you accidentally lift a net shot and instantly regret it? 🤦‍♂️

Net play is all about finesse and early preparation. If you aren't winning the net battle, you aren't controlling the rally.

Save this video and try it out in your next session! 🏸👇

Be honest… every training group has these people 😭👇

One of the best parts about ABA is that every session has different personalities, different energy, and plenty of chaos 😂

Which one are you?

One small habit can completely change how fast you feel on court.

A lot of the time, players are not actually slow. They are just losing time between shots without realising it.

The earlier you prepare, the easier the next shot becomes.

Watch how much of a difference this makes when you try it for yourself.

In structured sport, the early phase is not about winning. It is about building correctly.

During the first 12 weeks at Australian Badminton Academy, players focus on fundamentals. Proper grip. Controlled footwork. Balance. Timing. Clear understanding of court positioning. Movements are broken down and corrected early to prevent long-term errors. Intensity is introduced gradually, once technique is stable.

We also establish behavioural standards listening, responding to instruction, maintaining focus. These habits are trained alongside skill development.

By the end of this phase, players move with more control, understand the structure of the game, and begin to develop genuine confidence rooted in competence.

Strong foundations prevent future frustration.

If you’re considering structured training for your child, message us to discuss the right starting stage and available class spots.

Every new movement feels simple at first… until it’s done at full speed 😅

That’s why at ABA, we focus on structured progression so players build confidence step by step.

The early setup matters. It’s what creates the payoff later.

MYTH: A tighter grip gives you more power.

FACT: It actually does the opposite.

Power in badminton is not about force. It’s about efficiency.

Think of it like a whip. A flexible whip generates far more speed than a rigid stick.

At ABA, we teach players to use a relaxed “handshake” or V-grip. The power comes from body rotation, forearm pronation and supination, and a controlled wrist snap. The grip tightens only at the moment of impact, then relaxes immediately.

Loose to tight.
Control before power.
Technique before intensity.

That’s how real development is built.

Simple changes like this are what make the biggest difference early on when playing badminton

At ABA, we focus on building the right habits from the start so players improve faster and more consistently.

Save this and test it the next time you play badminton.

In structured training, there are moments when a child may feel challenged. That is normal. What matters is how it is handled.

Coaches in ABA are trained to recognise signs of overwhelm early loss of focus, hesitation, frustration. When that happens, we adjust. Instructions are simplified. Drills are modified. Intensity is reduced without lowering expectations. The goal is to reset composure, not remove structure.

Children are never left isolated or embarrassed. They are guided back into rhythm, step by step, within a controlled and supportive environment.

Progress requires challenge. But challenge must be managed professionally.

If you’re concerned about how your child might respond in training, message us to discuss how we assess readiness and provide the right starting point.

Passed the vibe but not the point✅

Fun moments like this are part of the process.

At ABA, we combine structured coaching with an environment players enjoy so they improve consistently while staying engaged.
