Today is Female Football Friday and we’re shining the spotlight on the Lionesses of Rydalmere Lions FC Over 30’s team.
Now in their third season at the club (with many of them having played together for over 10 years!), this team is made up of women who’ve come to football later in life, many of them starting out while supporting their own kids playing. What’s been built is something pretty special: a supportive, inclusive group that lifts each other up every week.
As they have gracefully “aged”, this year they have moved into Division 2, but what hasn’t changed is the team culture. Huge credit goes to coach Dave French, who gives up two nights every week to train and coach, always bringing positivity, encouragement, and even jumping in to join the sessions.
Friday nights might be cold, but they’re always full of laughs, fitness and footy, exactly how they like it.
