Not every horse share comes with a bear safety manual.

Sean and Kerry Sutcliffe. Two of the genuinely lovely humans who have been with Australian Bloodstock for over a decade. Still chasing that elusive champion, still smiling, still backing themselves.

They had a handy one that Hong Kong liked even more. Deal done. Funds in the bank. Most people celebrate with a nice dinner. Maybe a cruise. The Sutcliffes? Off to Alaska.

Now if you’ve ever thought, “How hard can the wilderness be?” apparently the answer is… very.

Somewhere between snow capped mountains, postcard beaches and those peaceful pine forests, they went full Dora the Explorer. Wandering about, taking in the serenity, probably thinking they were in a tourism ad.

Then along comes the local welcoming committee. Bears. Proper ones. The kind with their own safety signs saying DO NOT APPROACH. The kind where the brochure gently reminds you, “A fed bear is a dead bear.” Comforting stuff when you’re the potential snack.

Nothing like realising your share in a racehorse has accidentally funded a live audition for Bear Grylls.

Thankfully they lived to tell the tale. No champions yet on the track, but they’ve already beaten a field of grizzlies in Alaska. That’s character building.

That’s the thing with this game. Sometimes the wins are on the track. Sometimes they’re life stories you couldn’t make up if you tried.

Here’s to great people, great adventures, and preferably keeping the wildlife at a safe barrier. 🐎🌲🐻

Big day at the office for a few of ours.

Tartaglia, Chillaxing and Taga Smile are all stepping out today and if you don’t get a little buzz out of that, you might need to check your pulse. Three chances to shout at the TV, three chances to look like a genius in front of your mates, and at least three chances to say “I had a feeling about this one”.

The full preview is up on the website with how they’ve been working, how they’re shaping up and what we’re expecting from each of them. It’s the sort of read that makes you feel slightly more qualified to have an opinion in the mounting yard.

Race day is what it’s all about. The build-up, the nerves, the split second where everything either goes perfectly… or you start planning your “unlucky” speech.

Good luck to everyone involved today. Let’s hope we’re talking about them for all the right reasons tonight.

While we’re here worrying about barriers and trackwork, one of the crew’s in Alaska wrestling king crabs the size of a yearling 😳🦀

That’s a proper catch. Loyal as they come. 🐎🌊💪

What a battle . Kizlyar and Defiantly – stride for stride inside the last furlong – and you could’ve thrown a picnic rug over them. Kizlyar just noses ahead, Defiantly absolutely brave in second… and that’s a Joseph O’Brien 1–2. Not a bad day at the office. 💪

Day 1 of the Royal Meeting and the sun’s actually turned up…. 🌞

There’s something about this carnival – the suits are sharper, the grass is greener, and everyone walks a little taller like they own the joint. Meanwhile, we’re just here quietly representing Australian Bloodstock and soaking it all in.

Looking forward to seeing **Definatly** step out later today.

Big stage, big atmosphere, and a cracking horse to cheer home.

Let’s see how the day unfolds. 🍀🐎

Ciaron Maher summed it up perfectly — no speed on paper, a horse who can be a bit of a terror if you try and wrestle him for 2,000 metres… so instead of fighting him, we thought, “Let’s just work with him.” Radical concept, really. 😅

He was already a Group 1 winner before today… now he’s added another big one for the team. Massive credit to Ciaron, Mark and all our owners. That’s what this game’s about — smart thinking, brave rides and horses that just keep turning up.
What a ride. What a horse. What a team.

Big day at the races.

Four of ours step out today and if you’ve been following along on the website, you’ll know there’s a bit to like about each of them. Different tracks, different setups, different stories. Same goal. Go out there and give their owners something to yell about.

One’s knocking on the door, one’s building nicely, one’s looking to bounce back, and one’s ready to show a bit more than people expect. That’s the beauty of this game. Form, tempo, barriers, tactics. It’s all in the mix and it’s all laid out in today’s preview.

If you like knowing what’s happening before they jump, and not just pretending you backed the winner after it salutes, you’ll want to have a read.

It’s all up on the website. Find the link in the comments. 🐎🔥

Alright, here’s something you don’t see every day…

We’ve got a Shamus Award gelding – Janaki – and he’s FREE to a good home. Yep… free. As in, no purchase price. Just bring a float and a bit of patience.

He’s out of a Street Cry mare, he’s been broken in, went through the early education nicely and turned into a strong, solid type. The breaker’s wrapped with him – reckons there’s genuine talent there. Not the sort of horse you’d usually see being handed over.

Now here’s the twist. He’s come up broken winded and will need a wind operation. Current ownership group have decided to move him on rather than go down that path themselves.

So… if you’re an owner or trainer who doesn’t mind giving one a second chance, and you’re prepared to give him the op and a bit of time, you could end up looking very clever. These Shamus Awards can gallop, and this bloke’s got the athleticism.

He’s in the Hunter Valley. First in gets him.

Sometimes in racing you pay overs… and sometimes the opportunity just trots up and says “how ya going?”

BROODMARES AVAILABLE FOR REHOMING 🐎

As we reduce our breeding stock, we are offering the following mares free to suitable homes.

✨ Dauvenay
7YO daughter of Pierro. A very handy racehorse herself, she has produced one foal and missed with a late cover in 2025.

✨ Tawfiq Valley
16YO mare and proven producer — mum of 8 named racehorses and 6 winners. She missed in 2025 but could be bred again or would also make an excellent crossbreed mare.

We’re looking for the best possible homes for these mares as they transition into their next chapter.
