Brown Belt Grading Success

Last Thursday, two of our students stepped up for our first gradings of the end-of-term grading period, taking on the challenge of Brown Belt.

We are very proud to announce that both students were successful in what was a gruelling grading that tested them both physically and mentally.

A huge congratulations to both of them. The standard they displayed throughout their grading was exceptional, and they should be very proud of the hard work, commitment and perseverance that has brought them to this point.

With more gradings taking place this week, the hard work continues as we build towards the Asian Pacific Gasshuku, now less than two months away.

Our inter-dojo annual board breaking fundraising event will take place from September 7-12, 2026. Any of our students are welcome to participate. Pre-booking is required and sign closes Aug 27 at 11:59pm. All funds raised will go towards supporting the hosting costs of the IOGKF Asian Pacific Gasshuku in November 2026.

Early bird registration has now closed and we are overwhelmed by the support this event has received with a whopping 430 registrations already received! This event already has:

TERM 3 BEGINS TODAY!

After a short break over the school holidays, normal training resumes at Illawarra Karate today!

We hope everyone is refreshed and ready to hit the ground running as we kick off another exciting term of training.

What an amazing first Western Australia Gasshuku!

A huge thank you and congratulations to Sensei Peter and the team at AOGKF Wanneroo Martial Arts for hosting such an incredible, action-packed event. It was fantastic to see so many dedicated people come together to train and learn.

Sensei Mitch thoroughly enjoyed his time in Western Australia, meeting new people and having the opportunity to teach throughout the weekend.

Now it’s back to the dojo! Training continues through the school holidays from tonight as we prepare for a big and exciting Term 3. We look forward to seeing everyone back in class!
