Dear Members,

If we don’t take action now, our sport will disappear. It sounds alarmist but the facts are these:

* NSW is the second biggest fi****ms market in the country.

* If NSW market drops out because of changes to legislation, many Australian manufacturers and importers will be in danger of closing.

* Gun shops will close and new fi****ms will be difficult to come by.

* If they win in NSW, they will come for all of us and we need to fight back now. They need to know we will speak up for our sport and our fellow shooters.

* You can’t afford to think that you can’t or don’t have to do anything. You can and you should. Numbers matter to politicians. Take it from me - I used to be one. Let’s show them our numbers. Let’s show them that we will stand up for our sport.

* If you don’t act now, shooting could disappear from Australia.

Please take action. Please sign the petition and help yourself and your fellow shooters in NSW.

The SSAA can’t advocate effectively on your behalf if you don’t do your bit from time to time.

1. Gun laws weren’t the problem. Intelligence sharing was.
2. Current gun laws were adequate to prevent the Bondi Terrorist Attack if the federal government had shared information it had about these terrorists.

We are opening the Pistol Range at the State Range Complex (714 Woodsdale Road, Runnymede) this Sunday from 9am till 1pm for its first test run in preparation for a monthly match.

Like all SSAA Ranges, please have your licence and SSAA Membership card with you - of course, non members are welcome as well!

If it's pouring rain we may postpone to another day.

2025 House of Assembly Elections

As always, SSAA Tasmania reached out to all candidates and parties for their policies on the Recreational and Sporting use of Fi****ms.

We received responses from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party, the Liberal Party and the Nationals. The Labor Party sent us an email, telling us that they'd 'be in touch soon'. As yet - 2 and a half weeks later, there has been no further response.

A message from SSAA Inc. President Andrew Judd

From July 2025 Queensland members will no longer receive Australian Shooter magazine (the journal of the SSAA). Instead, they will receive a copy of “The Report”, a SSAA Queensland publication. This is a decision of the SSAA QLD executive. SSAA Inc (national office) requires SSAA Queensland to send through names and addresses of its members to the mailing house to facilitate the mailing of the magazine and they will no longer be doing so.

SSAA Inc is extremely disappointed by this decision and is working to develop ways for Queensland members to continue to receive Australian Shooter magazine.

Queensland members who wish to continue to receive Australian Shooter should contact the national membership office on (02) 8805 3900.

Over the weekend of the 5th and 6th of July, the SSAA National Board noted that SSAA QLD were now 6 months behind in their payment of membership subscriptions to SSAA Inc. This puts them well outside constitutional timeframes to remain a member of the national association. SSAA QLD will be given a short period of time to bring its payments up to date or it will cease to be a member of the national association. The board cannot allow this situation to continue.

in the event that SSAA QLD do not make good on their obligations, the SSAA Inc board decided on a path to allow Queensland members to remain members of the Australian SSAA family and to retain all of the benefits of SSAA membership should they choose to do so. Details of this arrangement will be released when it is appropriate to do so. In the meantime, Queensland members should contact the SSAA national membership office on (02) 8805 3900 to indicate their interest in this option.
