Leaving a Note of Gratitude for Rafters Toastmasters, Rowville

I was a proud member of Rafters for about a year, and I can’t thank the club enough for the impact it had on my self development.

Rafters isn’t just about public speaking, it’s a community that fosters personal growth and lasting friendships, where everyone supports each other’s journey. The insights and lessons I gained from the more experienced speakers were invaluable, and I am truly grateful for them.

If you are passionate about personal growth, improving your public speaking skills, and being part of a friendly group, I highly recommend giving Rafters a go!

Hey everyone,

Our Toastmasters club ( Rafters Toastmasters ) is looking for more members! We’ve grown heaps over the past few months but still have room for a few more new members.

We’re a small but friendly club of people from all walks of life. The purpose of the club is to practice public speaking, communication and leadership skills in a safe space. The meetings are a lot of fun and you’ll meet people that you’d never otherwise meet!

Come along and see if it’s right for you. Our meetings are at Raft Church 131 Taylors Lane, Rowville ( we rent a room there ) every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month 7.30-9.30pm. Rafters Toastmasters, Rowville

Rafters is a small and supportive Toastmasters club that meets twice a month to practice public speaking in safe environment.

We’re made up of people from all walks of life from business owners to teachers, people in corporate, accountants and lots more.

Rafters Toastmasters is looking for new members. We’re a small, friendly club with members who are all looking to improve their confidence and skills in public speaking.

We come from all industries including IT, education, finance, logistics and more. We are managers, self employed, teachers, accountants, corporate employees. We come from diverse backgrounds but all have the common purpose of self improvement.

Beginning of this year I said I’d do something about my fear of speaking in public.

Coming from an Asian background, I felt like I had done well academically all my life but lacked the confidence to really show up at work and in life. I was sick of being timid.

After months of procrastination, I joined Rafters Toastmasters, Rowville April this year. Initially it was terrifying and I dreaded every meeting. I told myself that I’ll join for 6 months or until I was less scared and then quit.

After a few meetings, something strange and unexpected happened. I stopped shaking every time I spoke. I learned techniques to be speak better and appear more confident in front of an audience. Importantly, I made friends at the meetings who helped me improve and who I knew wouldn’t judge me whatever gibberish I said.

7 months in I’ve made 4 speeches, participated in 2 contests and spoken in front of a ( small ) audience a number of times and I know I’m not going to quit!

Toastmasters has made me believe there is a different side of myself hiding somewhere in there, less bookish and more assertive and more confident. Hopefully this is just the beginning!

If you can relate to the fear and panic associated with public speaking come and join us for a session at Rafters Toastmasters. We’re a small and friendly club whose purpose is to develop speaking and leadership skills.
