Our History

Established in 1938, Members initially developed the course among scrubland, with the fairways “mowed” by a pack of sheep. Founding members consisted of winemakers who would bring along wine, butchers to supply meat and bakers who brought bread for a feast after a round of golf. For many years, the members’ social hub was a tin shed, which is now part of the greenkeepers’ complex.

The club has grown from a nine -hole scrapes course to an 18 hole, par 72 championship course with fairways that weave their way through 100 year old trees alive with regional native flora & fauna. Redesigned by Murray Crafter in 70’s the course has excellent fairways and fast greens. Tee shots, approaches and putts demand accuracy and serious thought.

The club has held a number of national events including the Australian Amateur PGA Tournament, Australian Senior Open, PGA Senior Open, Jacobs Creek Classic Senior Legends and the Australian Senior Ladies Championship.

Our professional members Rodger Davies, Peter O’Malley and Wayne Grady enjoy the challenging course and the warm, inviting, friendly atmosphere offered at the 19th Hole.
