Congratulations to all of my students who danced so beautifully tonight 🩷🩰 Thank you all for making my final concert so special. Tonight's lovely concert marks the end of my little school which has brought me so much joy for the past 16 years.

So many memories!

In 2010 I opened the doors of Rosewood School of Dance with the dream of providing affordable dance education to local kids. I had a passion for classical ballet and contemporary dance since my childhood and wanted to pass this on to my (then) small children and anyone else who wanted to learn. I wasn't confident that I would be able to make it all fit in with the rest of my life, but I loved it so much, and my brilliant supportive husband Justin Hammond just kept making it possible - even when we threw a third baby into the mix! I was also very lucky to have various lovely mums and Grandmas Anne Ifield and Denise Doyle to cuddle little Bella while I taught, and it was a precious time to have my daughters Holly and Chloe, then Bella working their way up the grades.

To my students past and present;
✨️THANK YOU💕✨️. Teaching you has been my greatest privilege and I am so greatful for having known you. I can't wait to know what life's adventure has in store for you so please feel free to keep in touch!

I have so much gratitude to Ms Breen. She was so giving of her time and expertise in the early days of opening RSD. She gave me feedback that helped me grow as a teacher and also supported my student teachers and students with private lessons when I was unsure of the new syllabus and asked for help- She was so happy to give us her time, even though she was a very busy examiner with her own studio!Thank you so much Ms Breen. 💓

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed Vice President and Life Member, Ms. Sandra Breen OAM. On behalf of the Executive Committee, examiners, teachers, and the entire Comdance family, we extend our deepest condolences and love to her family, Meredith and Darren, at this time of great loss.

Miss Breen mounted a long and valiant fight with remarkable dignity and strength. Her influence on dance—and in particular on Comdance—has been profound and enduring. For more than 40 years, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to our Society, gaining her examiner’s certificate in 1987 and serving across countless roles with integrity, wisdom and unwavering commitment.

Her legacy is woven into the very fabric of Comdance:

• A visionary leader and creator, she was instrumental in the development of the Modern Jazz Syllabus, and most notably served as the lead choreographer and writer of our new Tap syllabus—a body of work that will shape generations to come.
• As Technical Advisor in recent years, she was a steadfast guide, always available to offer clarity, support and mentorship to teachers.
• As Vice President and long-serving executive committee member, she brought strength, insight, and calm leadership.
• As a Queensland member she never missed an event and was always willing to help.

Ms. Breen’s contribution extended far beyond titles and roles. She never missed a workshop, travelled tirelessly to support others, and was endlessly generous with her time and knowledge. She inspired not only students, but teachers—both young and experienced—encouraging all to strive for excellence while upholding the spirit of Comdance.

She will be remembered as a pillar of our Society: wise, gracious, and deeply respected. Her legacy lives on in every dancer and teacher she influenced, in every step of choreography she crafted, and in the standards of artistry and professionalism she helped define.

Rest peacefully, Ms. Breen.
Your life’s work will continue to dance through us all.
