Keen to get involved with Red Hill Rail Trail parkrun, run, walk or volunteer. 🤩

📣 Volunteers Needed! 📣

Our third Red Hill Rail Trail parkrun is this Saturday, and we still need a couple of marshals 🙌

We’re also looking to fill spots for the next few weeks, so get in early to secure your favourite volunteer role 🤩

No experience needed — just a smile and some encouragement for our parkrunners! Our friendly team will be there to help you on the day 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Laminectomy surgery is a common procedure that involves removing all or part of the lamina to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves.

Depending on the complexity of the individual surgery, recovery time can vary from weeks to months. Getting up & about and walking around is encouraged fairly quickly following surgery. This helps aid a quicker recovery, improving mobility, decreasing stiffness and maintaining general strength.

Walking and gentle exercise is encouraged fairly quickly. Hydrotherapy can be introduced once incision wounds have healed.

Back strengthening and ROM exercises should be introduced next, focusing on pelvic tilts, leg lifts, glute bridges, resistance band and core stability exercises.

Proper technique, gradual progression of exercises and pain management are all important factors following laminectomy surgery.

The NDIS supports teenagers with disabilities in staying active and participating in social and recreational activities. This support can include funding for exercise physiology services.

At KMPT Exphys, each participant is given a personalised plan that considers their goals and specific exercise needs.

Families can play an important role in supporting their teens’ physical activity and social interaction by encouraging their teens to participate in exercise and other recreational activities.

Safe and effective programs targeting lifestyle improvements and goal setting

Chronic disease management -
Including Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Chronic pain, Depression, Cancer, Neurological disorders, Disabilities, and Mental health conditions. 

Rehabilitation and injury management - Physical injuries, following surgeries & disabilities

Lifestyle modification and behaviour change -
Promote overall physical and mental well-being by reducing sedentary behaviours modifying lifestyles, increasing physical activity and increasing independence

Other services include group programs, community-based activities and health education

Services may be accessed through self-referral, GP referral, Medicare, NDIS or DVA.

** Red Hill Parkrun**
A small group of us in Red Hill have started work on establishing Red Hill parkrun. You can follow the new FB page below for updates. If you’re interested in getting involved, get in touch!
It’s going to be great!! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The proposed course for Red Hill parkrun is on the Red Hill Rail Trail. Starting and finishing near the Railway Shelter at the bike track, it’s 2.5km downhill, then 2.5km back uphill to the starting point.

Our next steps will be applying for permits, securing the required funding and building our group of volunteers.
