The School has serviced the Mornington Peninsula for over 60 years and produced some of Australia’s finest dancers, teachers and choreographers. Established in 1961, as the Rosebud Ballet School by Miss Sandra Allan and now under the Directorship of Miss Melanie Gard, Peninsula School of Dance is highly regarded for it's high standards of training and nurturing, positive environment for young people. The faculty at Peninsula School of Dance believes that nothing is more joyful than watching a young child explore the world of music and movement with pure delight and carefree abandon. When this is nurtured in a loving environment by highly qualified staff, students will go on to derive many benefits from learning the art of dance. ✨ “PSD is where I grew up and how I discovered who I am.” ✨

What a moment to share the next story in our 65 Years of Dance series – as PSD alumnus Lachie Clue celebrates not one, but TWO incredible milestones!

🎶 The launch of his debut EP, Hindsight
🚢 And a 10-month professional performance contract with Royal Caribbean, dancing aboard Spectrum of the Seas and understudying the lead male role of Marco Polo in Silk Road.

From a five-year-old whose family happened to win a voucher for dance classes at a footy club event, Lachie grew up at PSD – dancing, performing, choreographing, completing VET Dance, assisting and teaching, and forming friendships that remain some of his closest today.

Since then, that journey has taken him to full-time training at Ministry of Dance, performing with Katy Perry at the AFL Grand Final and Tones and I at Rod Laver Arena, reaching the Top 24 of Australian Idol, creating his own music and now stepping into his next professional adventure.

But one of our favourite parts of Lachie’s story is what he says about the role PSD played along the way:

“PSD have embedded this sense of nurturing audacity. No idea was ever too big or too crazy.”

That is exactly what we hope PSD has been for generations of young people – a place to discover who they are, feel safe to be themselves, and be encouraged to dream BIG.

Congratulations Lachie on the launch of Hindsight and your Royal Caribbean contract! We are enormously proud of you and cannot wait to see where that beautiful audacity takes you next. 💛

65th Anniversary Gala - It's More Than A Dinner ✨

Our Director, Melanie Gard, will be sharing in this very special evening, celebrating the journey of PSD and looking towards its future.

Olivia Gard - From Mickey Mouse to Disney: A Dream Comes Full Circle ✨✨

Olivia's dance journey has come full circle - from performing to Mickey Mouse at her very first concert to becoming a professional Disney Cruise Line dancer 20 years later. Having grown up in the studio from the age of one, Liv was surrounded by dance, creativity and a community that became like family. From her earliest classes and Mickey Mouse-themed first concert to teaching, choreographing and performing on major stages, PSD gave her the space to develop not only as a dancer but as a person.

As we celebrate 65 Years of Dance – Celebrating Our Legacy. Inspiring Our Future., we're proud to share the stories of the families who have helped make Peninsula School of Dance what it is today.

"For me and so many other people, this dance school is so much more than just doing a dance class. It is genuinely family and a community. It’s a place to form lifelong friendships and a place to feel safe.

I’ll be away for nine months, which is a long time but I’ll come home to what I left. People change but, coming back to the studio, I know I’ll be coming home to family. I’ll walk into the studio and people will be there with big open arms saying ‘Welcome back, Miss Liv’."
