📸Spotlight Moment:
The pace of progress at the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre has become even more visible over the past month, with the facility rapidly taking shape now that major underground and structural works are complete.
Comparing aerial images from the end of April to the end of May highlights just how quickly the site is transforming. In only a few weeks, the entry and amenities building envelope has been completed, including final foundation and flooring works, er****on of both structural steel and lightweight steel and significant progress of the roofing works. The 50m pool area has also visibly advanced, including pool tiling works over 50% complete, and the grandstand and surrounding structures taking shape.
What has largely been a structural construction site is now unmistakably becoming a recognisable aquatic facility for the community. As more of the building emerges above ground, the scale and layout of the centre can now be fully appreciated from above — an exciting sign of the momentum carrying the project forward.

Project Update – April 2026

📸 Spotlight: 12 months of construction

April marks 12 months since construction began on the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre — a significant milestone for the project and the community.

Over the past year, the site has transformed dramatically, from early demolition and bulk earthworks through to major structural milestones. This has included excavation of both pool areas, construction of the 50m pool base and walls, installation of the 25m Myrtha pool system, and the steady rise of the pool hall and amenities buildings. More recently, we’ve seen the 50m pool filled for hydrostatic testing, roofing installed over the indoor facility, and key infrastructure like plant rooms, filtration systems and retaining walls taking shape.

These milestones highlight just how far the project has come, with the facility now clearly emerging on site. It’s an exciting stage as works continue to progress across all areas, with the project on track to be completed in late 2026 as planned.
