Dogs running to save dogs!

A 2 KM walk or a 10k walk/run, 20 KM or 50 KM race to Support the Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue INC. The 10km and 20 km will be on the Saturday and the 2 km and 50 km will be on the Sunday. A new race that will strengthen your bond with your best friend, challenge your limits and raise funds to further support the amazing work carried out by the Aus Hair of the Dog INC., dog rescue. We together have the chance to help make positive pawprints for change!

In the lead up to Barkin Mad, we will bring you training tips each week to maximise your training with your dog.

Just like humans, dogs need time to build fitness.

Start with shorter runs and gradually increase distance each week. A good rule of thumb is to avoid making big jumps in training volume and allow plenty of recovery time.

Remember: consistency beats one big weekend run.

The countdown is officially on! In just 16 weeks, dogs and their humans will be hitting the trails at Rokeby Recreation Reserve on 3rd & 4th October 2026 for an unforgettable weekend of adventure, community, and fundraising.
Barkin’ Mad Ultra is more than just a race – it’s a chance for dogs to run for dogs. Every registration helps support Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc, a volunteer-run rescue based in Warragul, Gippsland, dedicated to giving dogs a second chance at life.
Whether you’re an experienced trail runner or simply love getting outdoors with your four-legged best friend, there is a challenge for everyone.

We would like to thank everyone who walked, ran and donated to our Charity: Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc!
We raised:
This is the breakdown of how we raised the money:
18,400 for the dogs! Through race registration, donation and sponsorship.

Ultimately this will save the equivalent of 36 dogs!

We had a whopping 200+ runners/ walkers over the two days. Up from 120 last year.

And amazingly we had 150+ dogs over the weekend!
