MEDIA RELEASE: NEW FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER FOR CENTRAL QUEENSLAND ZONE
Experienced coach to lead new junior development and rep program

Rockhampton, QLD, January 25, 2019– Football Central Queensland (FCQ) is pleased to officially announce Mark Delaney as the zone’s new Technical Development Manager (TDM). As the zone’s TDM, Delaney will be responsible for leading coach education as well as player and game development to grow the technical level of football (soccer) participants in Central Queensland.
Delaney will play a key role in managing the technical framework of new Talent Support Programs (TSP).

Another core focus will be on implementing and monitoring FFA-mandated community programs throughout the zone which will include coaching and the further development of community coaches.

An FFA B- Licence coach Delaney understands the value of player development and coach education. And he is looking forward to sharing his knowledge while continuing to develop and learn in Central Queensland.
Building a network of like-minded passionate people will be the key to success, said Delaney. We all need to work together to grow Central Queensland's football community.
Delaney has been involved in football for many years in both England and Australia, predominantly in the U9 to U16 age groups. After moving to Australia he worked in the Skills Acquisition and Game Training phases with the current Football Queensland Technical Director Gabor Ganzcer at National Premier League Club Western Pride while at the same time working as a coach educator.

"I enjoy developing players both boys and girls and helping football clubs develop their coaches", said Delaney.

FCQ General Manager Jim Douglas is thrilled about
Mark’s appointment and welcomes the investment from Football Queensland in the region.

"The investment by Football Queensland through Mark’s appointment and the new TSP/SAP and representative programs will help rebuild the foundation of our game throughout Central Queensland", stated Douglas.

Delaney too is eager to get started: "I am very excited to be joining the Football Queensland and Central Queensland teams and to be able to contribute to the Central Queensland football landscape", he said.

Delaney commenced his new role as Technical Development Manager just this week and will be announcing information about coach education, the new CQ Rep program, as well as trials for the Football Queensland Talent Support and Skills Acquisition Programs in the next coming few days.
