History of our Club

Leichhardt United Soccer Club - On Monday 12th July 1971 a meeting was held for the purpose of forming a soccer club. The aim of the club would be to cater for all boys wishing to play soccer above primary school age. The Wandal Tumbling Hall was the venue which was filled to capacity. At this meeting a motion to form a club was carried. Then club names were put forward and it

was carried that the club be called “Leichhardt United Soccer Club” and so it all began. St George Sports Club - St George Sports Club came into being at the AGM in 1972 after being known as Railway Recreation since the inaugural meeting held at the Railway Recreation Club Hall on the 10th February 1956. The Amalgamation of Leichhardt United Soccer Club and St. George Sports Club to form Southside United Soccer Club

A special meeting was called on the 11th February 1986 for the amalgamation of the Leichhardt United Soccer Club and the St. A motion was carried that the new club be called Southside United Soccer Club. And so the Southside United Soccer Club was born through the merging of the Leichhardt United Soccer Club and the St. Southside United Sports Club Inc. - A special meeting was called on the 5th April 1988 for the sole purpose of changing the name of the Club. The reason was desirable because with the conducting of the Indoor Centre, a variety of Sports could be catered for.
