We’ll always post on Facebook about major planned closures that span multiple days or significantly impact access across multiple areas/pools. ⭐️ School Holiday Intensive Lessons – Expressions of Interest Now Open! ⭐️

Looking for a great way to kick start your child’s swimming journey or fast track their progress?

Southside Aquatic Centre is taking expressions of interest for our School Holiday Intensive Program, running during the upcoming school holidays from Monday 29 June to Sunday 13 July.

✅ Ideal for current students wanting to nail a specific skill
✅ Increase confidence, consistency and water safety

🚧 Southside Aquatic Centre Amenities Closure 🚧

Rockhampton Regional Council will be undertaking flooring repairs to the amenities block from Monday 15 June to Sunday 21 June.

During this period:
🔹 Change rooms and internal showers will be closed
🔹 Portable toilets will be available onsite
🔹 Outdoor cold-water showers will remain available
🔹 Baby change tables will be provided inside the Program Pool building

🏊‍♂️ All pools, programs, Learn to Swim lessons, squad training and public swimming will continue to operate as normal.

A little inconvenience now for improved facilities in the future. We appreciate your patience and understanding while these works are completed 👏

Good news, Southside!

Our 50m Pool has now reopened and returned to normal operation as of 9:30am today following completion of unplanned repair works to the plant system and water balancing.

Our team has completed all required water testing, and all parameters are now within normal operating limits.

Thank you for your patience while these works were carried out. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the pool today 👏

Southside Aquatic Centre will be operating on public holiday hours tomorrow (Thursday):

🏊 Outdoor 25m & 50m Pools: 10:00am – 4:00pm
🏊 Indoor Program Pool: 11:00am – 3:00pm
☕ Poppies Café: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Please note that Learn to Swim lessons will not be running due to the public holiday.

For our Learn to Swim families, all direct debit accounts will automatically receive a credit following the public holiday, as lessons are not conducted on public holidays.

Whether you’re stopping in for a swim, grabbing a coffee from Poppies Café, or simply enjoying the long weekend, we’d love to see you at the centre.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused team members to join our growing team.

As the first point of contact for our customers, you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for families visiting our aquatic facilities and swim schools.

About the Role
✅ Customer service and reception duties
✅ Managing enquiries
✅ Point of Sale (POS) and cash handling
✅ Learn to Swim administration support
✅ Maintaining a professional and welcoming environment
✅ Assisting with day to day facility operations

Availability Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must be available to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as these are our busiest operating periods.

Essential Requirements

👏 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
👏 Reliable and punctual
👏 Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain)

⚠️ 50M Pool Closure Update ⚠️

Unfortunately due to an unforeseen plant system fault, our 50m pool is currently closed and is looking to remain closed for the remainder of this week while works are carried out.

Our team is working closely with Council and contractors to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. If we are able to reopen earlier than expected, we absolutely will.. keep a close eye out for updates.

All 50m lane bookings have been cancelled during this period.

Clubs or user groups requiring pool space are encouraged to urgently email [email protected] with any 25m pool requests and our team will do our best to accommodate where possible.

A further update regarding reopening plans for next week will be provided prior to the weekend.

⚠️ FACILITY UPDATE ⚠️

Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen technical issue that is outside of our control, the 50m pool will be closed today and tomorrow.

We are working closely with Rockhampton Regional Council to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while this occurs.

At this stage, we will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

✅ The 25m outdoor pool remains OPEN
☕ Poppies Café remains OPEN and operating as normal
✅ Indoor learn to swim pool operating as normal

At Splash-A-Bout Swim School, we don’t charge entry fees for parents, siblings or family members who are coming in to watch learn to swim lessons.

From cheering on those first bubbles, to celebrating big milestones and confidence in the water .. we believe swimming is something the whole family should be part of.

Even better, children enrolled in lessons are also welcome to enjoy our outdoor pools and SplashZone either before or after their lesson at no extra cost.
